... we visited the Nicollete Mall, which is a street mall located downtown. In front of Macy's is a statue that pays tribute to the Mary Tyler Moore show. The statue features Mary tossing her hat into the air just like the start of the tv show. The show was based on a tv news station in Minneapolis. Minneapolis also has Peanuts character statues spread around town as a tribute to Charles Schultz. Charles Schultz was born and raised in ...

My first camping trip! We’re going to Lake Maria (pronounced Mariah) State Park, which is a bit more than an hour northwest of Minneapolis. The weather report predicts severe thunderstorms.

We park as far as we can from our campsite, with the intention of hiking about 5 miles before settling in. My pack is almost what I’ll have on Isle Royale and weighs thirty pounds. Julie’s is about ...

    Walking in a Winter Wonderland

... Threw all my stuff together, stuffed the cat in the carrier, and ran out the door. Running out the door is a bad, bad plan when you had an ice storm the night before, and your carrying 3 bags and a cat. Took a nasty digger on the steps, and then another on the sidewalk, but eventually made it to my car. The car doors were frozen shut. Managed to get in, and crawl the 3 blocks to Jen's. Transferred the bags and the cat, and got on the road, and to L2A. The ...
