I was in early due to Tammy having to drive back to PA and I didn't want to hang at our friends house. Checking out when I arrived was an CIAA Basketball Tournament. Westin front of house staff could not have been more polite. Bellman after realizing that I was checking in and being dropped off came out to help me. Front of house staff put my stuff in storage, they got me on the internet and now I am enjoying the golf channel and sipping tea.

It was so great
This hotel was so amazing. Really nice rooms with wonderful beds (very important!), wonderful and friendly staff and most important a GREAT restaurant (great atmosphere, even better food!) .... only one little thing bothered me: you have to pay for a swimming pool and/ or the fitness area ... but then again : it was great.
Excellent customer service
From the moment our taxi dropped us off at the front doors of the Westin, we were greeted with nothing but smiling faces. The beds are truly "heavenly," and we had a great view of the city. When we entered our room, we discovered a bottle of wine and chocolate-covered strawberries in our room. When we called down to the front desk to see if they were complimentary, we were told that someone else was actually supposed to be in that room and couldn't make it. They told us to go ahead and enjoy the strawberries and wine free of charge. Later, one of the workers went out of his way to help us locate a State Park that he wasn't familiar with. Everybody was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely come back!
I'm actually writing this review from the Westin so my stay isn't even over yet. Every staff member we've come into contact with has been VERY, VERY friendly and helpful. As an example, I asked one of the valet attendants for directions to one of the local malls and within 10 seconds a preprinted map with reverse directions for the ride home was in my hands. The beds are to die for and the view of the city from the upper floors is breathtaking. As a sidenote, I walked over to Pizzeria Uno's a block away and found it mediocre at best. We will definitely stay at the Westin again whenever we visit Charlotte!

I've stayed in half a dozen Charlotte hotels and find this by far the best - luxurious rooms and bathrooms, love that bed, and the service is always so friendly I almost hate to go back to the northeast :-) I've seen some of the negatvie reviews here and wonder if it's just hit or miss with getting "good" staff...everyone from the doormen, to the restuarant staff, to the desk folks, to the people who work in the little store off the lobby are always so helpful and pleasant. The Ember Grill is great; creative food artfully prepared. It's a short walk to the main downtown areas or its always easy to get a cab with the helpful doormen. It blows away the others in the price range - Marriott, Omni, etc. Go for the Heavenly Bed alone! :-)
I stayed at the Westin recently and was unimpressed with what I saw.
While the rooms themselves are luxurious and the beds are comfortable, the maid service was slow to say the least. What was worse, I was woken from a nap during the mid afternoon and told that this was the only time I could have the beds turned down, even though i had asked they come in the morning while I was out. You also have to pay to use the workout facilities and pool, which seems a little odd for such a high class hotel. Also, the night staff is substantially friendlier than the morning staff. Perhaps one of my biggest concerns was my credit card, which was left behind at the lobby restaurant. After being informed by the staff that my card had been passed along to security, it took two days before anyone got back to me. Finally upon checkout I was informed that they did not have my card-- only to be called two days later that they did in fact have it. I had already cancelled it and asked that they tore it up. An overrated hotel- nice rooms, but that's about it
Great Beds/Terrible Service
Room was clean and bed so comfy. Service in the dining room was spotty and the help had an attitude. Was a long wait for simple breakfast but the food was great. Pool looked great but the doors were locked before it was suppose to close for the night. Disappointing. Thought a nice place like the Westin would be careful about sloppy staff.
The physical attributes of the hotel were amazing, everything was clean and felt like walking through an art gallery, but the service was outstanding. Employees treated me and my girlfriend as if we were their personal friends...knew our names and were very considerate! A must visit!
Stayed here for one night 11/21/03.
Booked one of the corner rooms in the hotel and the room was great. The bathroom was huge and included a stand-in shower along with the tub behind a glass partition. Huge windows on two sides and of course, the Heavenly Bed remains one of the best aspects of this chain.
Location is excelletn as well. A short 5-6 block walk to the good restaurants and great nightlife and bars. Would definitely stay here again.

Flawless. From the "Heavenly Bed" to the waaaay cool lobby and bar to the fitness center, this is Westin at its best. Sure to be ranked as one of Charlotte's finest.
