I wanted to follow in the steps of Marco Polo and cross central Asia to China traveling down the Silk Road via exotic staging towns such as Samarkand. So I booked the trip, bought the guide and the map.

Started walking around and then I remembered the TKTS booth in Leicester Square for cheap theatre tickets. Got good seat tickets at half-price tonight! Had not planned on it, but I am making a 20 year anniversary of seeing Les Miserables. The first time I saw it was in London in 1994 with the students. Had no idea what the story was about - but the story is moving - one of faith and of determination. Bought the ticket at half-price and seeing it tonight. ...

Following this, the journey took me up to Ilkley to get the corrections on my thesis going.
