Meeting the Extended Family
... welcomed us into their unique home with it is a tribute to their entire family, covered in more photos and ornaments then the most cluttered of antique shops but very homely. It even sported a few photos of the extended family from Oz. They also fed us the biggest meal of my life and in true fashion I managed to devour it all, but the rest of the afternoon was the biggest struggle of my life trying to keep it down, I was ...
Cape Town and Kruger Park 2010
... I remember the day we spent a few years ago at the Addo Elephant Park near Port Elizabeth where we saw hundreds of elephants, many of them by the side of a large watering hole. Kragga Karma Wildlife Park, again near P.E. was also amazing with a wide variety of animals on a small sized park.
You may have got the impression from this blog that I was complaining about visiting the Kruger Park but that’s not the case – I have always wanted to ...
Bus Crashes and Gozo!
... tot have had these two experiences today. The journey back was uneventful until…945. Guess what?
The same driver from the morning was driving the return bus. And he charged me too. I kind of felt a bit sorry for him but his driving was far too risky. Needless to say, I got off the bus early at St. Julian’s bay and took a shortcut home.

Exploring Valetta and Sliema
It is a long time since I have slept as badly as last night. The noise of the traffic was relentless (all night)> I also thinking I was quite cold. I'd put two blankets on the bed but I am sure they kept falling off! Tonight, I will be better prepared. I received a lovely text at 7.30am which was a great start to the day.
I looked out. It was cloudy. I tried to weigh up whether to go to Gozo today whilst having a smashing cup of tea! Doreen seemed to arrive an ...
Tombs, Temples and Tasty crepes
... a left turn, a couple of right hand turns and there it was. We managed to pull up into what looked like the only remaining car parking spot down a side street, race back round the corner and literally join the back of the rest of the group about to disappear into the temple below. We caught it by a cats whisker - phew!!! John says he's now pretty certain that there isn't one single traffic law left that we haven't violated - but hey, we haven't had a ...

Historical Traveler Reviews The Waterfront Hotel Il Gzira
Good holiday at the waterfront
Just returned from 10 days at the Waterfront and would thoroughly recommend it. Clean room, good food and obliging staff.
Excellent holiday
Just returned from an excellent fortnight at the Waterfront. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Stayed in corner room on 7th floor - brilliant.
Wonderful hotel
Excellent hotel with good facilities and friendly staff. All meals of a high standard and a varied menu.
A great hotel
We have just returned from the Waterfront hotel and we agree fully with all the reviews that this hotel is the best. As it becomes more popular it will become harder to book. We were told that the hotel is fully booked till well into November and at least 35% of customers are returners. The food was very good always hot and a good variety.
We took a wheelchair and found no problems in the hotel, the rooms are very spacious, with wide doors and ramps to all areas including the roof top pool. When outside the hotel we found it easier to cross over the main road to the promenade as some of the kerbs were uneven but not impossible to cross on the hotel side. The locals were very helpful, we even took the wheelchair on a local bus to Valletta.
We hope to return in the near future.
Very Pleasant!
We stayed in the Waterfront Hotel in July this year. It is an excellent hotel with good facilities. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would fully recommend this hotel to anyone.
Mt wife & I have stayed at the Waterfront Hotel 3 times in the last 3 years.
It is without doubt our favourite hotel on the island first class in every respect. We take our annual main holiday in Malta, our next visit this year will be our 17th, and ou 4th stay at the Waterfront Hotel. It is excellent in every respect Comfort, Decor, Clealiness, excellent food & in a very good position. Above all though the staff are excellent.
Fantastic Modern Hotel
We stayed at The Waterfront Hotel during the peak August season of 2003. It was brilliant. We received an extremely warm welcome from the porter and all staff were very friendly and helpful. Our half board meals were outstandingly good - better than your average self service stuff! The view across the creek to valetta from the front of the hotel (esp. the restaurant windows) is quite lovely. The roof top pool was lovely - though is a lot smaller than the clever photography in the brochure/website suggests! This hotel had a noticable lack of screaming kids and I would say is ideally suited to couples. The air-conditioning in reception and in our room provided a real haven from the occasionally unbearable outside heat. A first class hotel.
Almost qualifies for ***** (5 star)
Very pleasant stay. Staff always ready to help: food excellent and ample Bar open all night with good service and even better prices. I settled bill at the end of a forthnights' stay and it did not bankrupt me. Rooms ample and service excellent. I will go back if they'll have me. We had two grand little ones who behaved? but we had no complaints!
Wonderful, but.......
The Waterfront has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. The decor is stylish and service is excellent. The food in the restaurant was good and well-presented. We had a corner room on the second floor, giving extra space and a lovely view of the harbour. The one drawback was that being low down meant that we were subject to quite a lot of traffic noise most of the time. Overall a lovely hotel which we would be happy to visit again, making sure that we requested a high floor/ quiet room!
Good hotel
Watterfront Hotel can be recommended! Nice rooms, good breakfast, situated very good near Sliema Ferry and bus stops.
We regret that so many restaurants in Sliema are on the wrong sida of the road. More restaurants are wanted on the seaside of the Strand etc.
It's not nice to sit in the traffic. We went to St Julians for our dinners!
