Fort Flagler is a Washington State Park located at the end of Marrowstone Island. It is a former (1897-1953) United States Army fort. It is named after Brig. Gen. Daniel Webster Flagler. It's main purpose was to guard the entrance to the Puget Sound, along with Fort Worden and Fort Casey.

The park itself sits on a bluff overlooking Puget Sound. Boeing

Wednesday we drove north to Everett to visit the Boeing. We took a tour of the 472 million cubic foot plant. Well, not exactly... we saw two sections of it. It's amazing to see how many planes are inside and how the process all comes together. We saw the new 787 Dreamliners being assembled. And we saw the Dream Lifter - a modified aircraft that can ...

... Washington. What a beautiful location! Surrounded by lakes, rivers, and mountains, one of them including Mt. Baker, it is one of the most picturesque places I have been to. After ooing and awwing at his collection of classic planes, models, and cars, I was invited to fly in his biplane. Unfortunately, they had some problems getting the plane started, but it didnät matter, I was able to fly in an equally beautiful plane, a 1936 Fairchild (colors ...

... we thought he was injured and talked about rushing out to save him but after watching him in the binoculars he was obviously swimming. When he got to the rocks on shore he jumped up with his catch, rested for a couple of minutes, then flew off into the trees to enjoy is fish. It was one of the most amazing things we have seen on this trip.

... eco-village presently has limits to the sizes of homes. A single person is limited to 450 feet and a couple 700 feet. Our guide, Kees (pronounced Case), gave us a tour of his 700 square foot cottage, which seemed roomy, cozy, and certainly sufficient for two people. We had some refreshing down time at the home of Bob and Phyllis Shultz and dinner with Cathy Whitmire and Tom Ewell, F/friends from New England sojourning on Whidbey Island. It was good to reconnect with them ...

Pre-Travel Jitters

I can't believe that I'll be leaving in a couple of weeks! It felt like I had soooo much time and now it's just around the corner. I am excited, but really nervous at the same time. I will be completely immersed in a different culture. I'm traveling outside the United States for the first time (Canada doesn't count)...it ...

Nor would I hesitate to do it again (although, I would recommend looking closely at the weather before embarking on any trips), especially if I could go with Jessie. J: So things we've learned, huh? Where to begin...reminders of privilege I think will always spring up as long as I spend time out of the ...

... Street, and is still trading as a Starbucks today. Ed sampled the coffee just to be sure they were doing it right. Amongst other things, Seattle is known as "latte" land. It seems that Starbucks is on every other block. In one city office block there are in fact 3. Tomorrow sees Ed and Prue heading back to Canada, to Victoria, for a couple of days before meeting up with Jenny and Robbie on Sunday to fly to London. More later - Prue and Ed
