It's me writing the 'blog' at the moment - I've been let loose to put a few words down - so here goes.... We all arrived safely and picked up the car - hardly a car a big Jeep Cherokee 4 wheel drive - it was advised because we could get bad weather! stopped on the way to our stay for a fuel (food) stop - crepes with lemon filling and topped off …

It's been a great week. Tuesday, we drove north to Lyons and found the Oscar Blue's Brew Pub. It's a bit of a dive (the clientele were a bit rough around the edges) but the food was great and we were able to sit out on the porch and enjoy the evening. One of the brewery employee's had his son with him and all the staff played with him in the lot between the pub and the brewery. He was adorable. His name was Hendrix. :)

... are ridiculously excited for India. Two weeks is barely enough time to get our feet wet. I mean, come on, this country is huge! But we will give it our best shot. We have had to cut out tons of things we wanted to see (Hampi, Goa, Varanasi, the Himalayas), but we are still going to
see lots. You've heard of the Taj Mahal, I presume. Oh, and we're not camping. Big sigh from the mom types. We ...

As is our wont, it's time for a walk.

I've been avoiding the fast food and candy that dominated my diet in the early Madness Era of the first month, and in an effort to tip the balance back the other we've been trying to find country/mountain trails we can hike about on [ particularly on days when we're sleeping in the car, because you don't wanna find yourself in the car park at 4pm with 7 or so hours to kill ]

... minutes. WRONG! There were "signaling problems" westbound on the Piccadilly line (the direction we were going), so the stupid train stopped for five minutes at literally every station. It took us over 2 hours to get to the airport. By the time we arrived, we were in a full panic because our flight was due to depart in a little over an hour. We ran through the airport (with our big backpacks, little day backpacks, and three extra satchels full ...

This suited us fine for an overnight stop well on the way to Rocky Mountain NP. It was out of season so quiet. You have to go into town for breakfast - we went a little farther on to Sharkeys which was outstanding

Very friendly staff and it was clean enough - but the building and the rooms are truly vintage. If you're into old stuff and don't mind dated interiors you'll do just fine here. I was shocked to discover they had wifi in the building. We had a studio with a pull-down bed, our chief complaint was actually the pillows that were totally flat so we both woke up with neck aches. All in all it is close to the lifts and reasonably priced off-season.
