After hiring the car, I drove to the Vineyard Hotel. My mum was in room 225. I walked up the stairs and knocked on the door. I heard a movement inside and then the door opened. There she was. My mum. And it felt like we had never been apart. It was beautiful, as was she. It had been too long - way too long. But now we were together again and it would take barely moments before it felt like it always did. Like love.

We saw an old church, a great view of Table Mountain, a shipwreck and learned about how the island had been used as a place of exile from the times of the first Dutch settlers – how they brought members of resistance forces from places like Batavia here, to keep them from interfering with colonial rule elsewhere. We heard about how the eucalyptus ...
Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa stupidbunny... there are either orphaned, abandoned, or from abusive homes. Those orphaned and abandoned tend to stay there until they are in their mid-late teens, whereas they work with the abusive parents to make them better and get their children back. One building we went into was for children under five years old. ~40 kids stayed there. We went in and there were children running everywhere! It was nuts to say the least. The toddler room was a bit depressing, though ...

Since there is a lot of competition between the various wineries some of the smaller ones try to create a theme to attract visitors. One place I visited was called Fairview which had a "goat tower" with one especially large bearded billy at the top of the tower. On the final day before I had to leave for Jo'berg to catch a plane to Israel I decided to climb Table Mountain. After a ...
