After hiring the car, I drove to the Vineyard Hotel. My mum was in room 225. I walked up the stairs and knocked on the door. I heard a movement inside and then the door opened. There she was. My mum. And it felt like we had never been apart. It was beautiful, as was she. It had been too long - way too long. But now we were together again and it would take barely moments before it felt like it always did. Like love.

... in South Africa there have been years of official denial and despite every attempt to give out condoms people still take untold risks. A staggering % of the population have HIV.

So i go across the road to a bar which seems dangerous and unfathomably hip. The bar does not have a race ban but can only imagine its the kind of place people look at you when you walk in especially the bald ginger man from London who still thinks he is hip. To my surprise or ...
Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa matthewprc9... a few American girls are serving in their clinic and waiting on their corners for the minibus each day. I cannot wait to share this huge part of my life here with you all! Stay tuned--later this week I hope to post some beauties.

Thanks to all of your prayers—my body is on the mend for sure! I'm feeling much better and having a fabulous weekend.
On Friday, I woke up without a fever (woo hoo!). I guess a full 12 hours of sleep really can work ...
Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa horvathck1... be the place to come back to make a purchase. At the bottom of the downtown area we found a computer shop with free internet. After enquiring about little travel laptops we did some research on the net and found we could get a cheaper one in the UK. Outside again we reached the Waterfront area (a tourist area centred around the harbour) after a short walk. By now we were starting to realise that Cape Town drivers were crazy, ignored most traffic signals, speed limits and pedestrians. We ...
Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa chris.cesca... Kat from Montana, California, and North Carolina respectively. We sat around talking for awhile and having drinks before heading down to the warm pool to swim and drink some more. It was a lot of fun and I have already met many new friends since I did not know anyone very well that went on the safari. Once I went back to the room Jessica and I chatted for a while before heading to bed since we have a game drive at 5am tomorrow!
Cape Town, South Africa claudiv... like a really nice place in what is a month earlier the most popular skiing resort in South America. We will however be there for the hiking, cycling, canoeing etc Unless the snow has decided to stay on longer than expected. The resort has a SPA which i have no doubt Laura will be taking full advantage of... Can't wait...
Cape Town, South Africa roscoefriend... place ... the road, a seeming perilous cliff top drive, is carved into the mountain like a scar as it meaners its way towards Hout Bay, the 12 Apostles, Camps Bay, Llandudno, Camps Bay, Bantry Bay, Seapoint and finally Cape Town's city bowl ... As if this is not enough the sun is sinking into the sea casting ever changing yellow, orange, red hues of light onto this wonderful scene ... taking your very last breath away as if it were the end of some ...
Cape Town, South Africa leinsterman... shift there is not much you can do before your shift so everyone just hangs out. Today when my group got to work we were ready to go since we had just hung out in the morning. Not long after getting to work we had to start bathing all of the babies, two toddlers and today we also had three 6 year olds. Once we had finish the babies it was very hard to calm the older ones down because all they wanted to do was play, so they were ignoring us, which was really ...
Cape Town, South Africa mcgrawcrazy07Today I don't really have much to say so I thought I would write a short note about South Africa in general. So far it has been unbelievable the differences in living situations between the few city dwellers and the majority township dwellers. Being based out of Capetown, you could almost trick yourself into forgetting that we are residing in a developing nation. Capetown is a very cosmopolitan city with all the amenities of home, plus spectacular scenery, hot nightlife ...
Retreat, South Africa melodydawn... this things going down, this little flotation device isn't really going to help me form a 35000 foot fall), we headed for the launch area, strapped ourselves in and prepared for the fall backwards. Melinda, of course being the braver of the two of us mentioned that it really wasnt that far down to the bottom, and that gave even our 20 year old "Mountain Dew dudes" food for thought. Making that first step back was the hardest, trusting the rope and ...
