That night Handa turned in early, pulling the curtains against the hotel pool (obviously forgotten swimmies) and taking small delight in filling in the 7am room service breakfast slip to hang on door. Lying in the dark, each eagerly anticipates the prospect of crossing a gateway to another world, lying just out of sight only 1/2 mile away in the darkness. Quiet now, it's like christmas eve. 7am comes and we are up and ready. ...

... up for the Pirate ride we then queued for ages to see Tinkerbell. Even though we waited a long time it was fun to see Tinkerbell and her fairy friends. She was really nice and gave me a hug and I had my photo taken with her.
We then went to a cafe for a drink and Grandpa and Mandy chilled out while me and Dad went to look round the shops looking for souvenirs. I wanted to find a special coin press that we'd seen at ...

We finally wound up at a game where you roll balls into a hole and based on how many points you got would move your dino. There were about 4 people playing so I thought I would try my luck with him to improve our odds of winning. We were off to races and I fell behind early, but Kody was doing well. This was a water ride where we got soaked the last time we went on it. When we got on I was hoping that I wasn’t going to get wet because I didn’t want to be wet for the other rides. Since apparently nothing was open, we headed back to the World Showcase and rode Maelstorm and the Mexico boat ride(dumb!). I highly recommend the Norway film following Maelstorm, seemingly produced in 1982. We figured we might as well cross that attraction off our list, since we WILL be doing every ride before May ...

Historical Traveler Reviews The Villas of Grand Cypress Orlando

    We loved it!

    from anonymous

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon last year, and it was GREAT! The room and amenities were out of this world! I would definately recommend this place to anyone staying in the Orlando area!

    Awesome Place to Stay

    from beancounter1244

If you need a place to stay in Orlando, you HAVE to check out The Villas at Grand Cypress. We loved it there. The staff was wonderful and the villas sit right on a golf course with a lake right out your back patio. They are only a mile from their sister hotel, the Hyatt at Grand Cypress, with free regular shuttles between them and you can use all their facilities for free, including a 9 hole golf course, tennis courts, two pools with slides, and bikes. There are three full golf courses surrounding the villas and they also offer you a discount to play at them as well. The villas sits at the north end of the disney resorts and there are backroads which take you right into the resort and park areas or you can ride their free shuttle over if you don't want to drive.

We rented a two bedroom villa which had a full kitchen, dining room, two master bedrooms, two master baths with a shower and sunken tub in each, and a pull out couch in the living room, through Expedia for a great price.

We were there during Hurricane Charley and the staff went out of their way to insure that we were safe, fed, and taken care of throughout the entire night. They also were very kind and accomodating in giving us a "hurricane" special for the additional three nights we had to stay due to the airport closure.

They have daily maid service twice a day as well as a nightly turn down. It also included a full size coffee maker with coffee and a safe in each bedroom. For an additional fee, they will open up a closet with a washer and dryer inside of it.

We found it to be a very quiet, peaceful, and restful place, yet close enough to the parks, restaurants, stores.

Great choice for couples who need to get away....

My husband and I spent four nights at this remarkable resort (July 1 - July 4). The grounds are beautiful and very serene. It was a very nice getaway from the Disney Park adventures of the day. We stayed in the double-bed, club suite with the golf course view. The view of the golf course was awesome and seeing the sunrise each morning just really made the stay even more enjoyable. I would have liked for the rooms to have made available a refrigerator and microwave, rather than just the overpriced drinks and snacks provided in the room. My husband drank a sprite which cost a whopping $3.75. Shuttle service was available at our every whim and all of the the staff were very accomodating. Having the ability to enjoy the activities at the Hyatt Grand Cypress Hotel at no charge, made our days full of great activities. We are looking forward to planning our family vacation with the kids next year. My husband and I will definitely take advantage of this resort experience again. However, with our kids for convenience we will stay at the Hyatt.

    Good place far from action

    from debeka57

Went here for a family vacation and visit to Disney with 2 kids. Villa was fine, extremely spacious, and beautifully appointed. The staff was super---helped with everything. Checkin cocktail was good after a long drive. The pool was okay--certainly not the Hyatt Pool, but at night was mosquito infested. Most of the amenities claimed by the resort are actually at the Hyatt, which was ten minutes away. Room service was great and abundant--but not many choices for dinner. If we golfed, we would have probably had a better time. The back way into Disney that the hotel suggested was great --still took 20 minutes to get to the parks. Could not see the fireworks from our villa--good view from the clubhouse. I think next time we will stay at the Hyatt.

    A Honeymoon Must!!!

    from anonymous

All right, I know you've probably read A LOT of reviews about the 10,000 different hotels in and around Orlando. This review is for the guys out there that are looking for a special place to take your bride for your honeymoon, or for a future bride that wants to help her guy out. My bride and I stayed there a couple of weeks ago and I am SO glad we did!! I sat in front of the computer for a month looking for a beautiful, unforgettable yet a reasonable place to stay. After much searching I found the Villas. I payed a reasonable price, much less than a Disney resort, and got everything I thought I would and my wife is STILL talking about how good I did :) The staff is wonderful, it's close to everything in the area and best of all there aren't kids running up and down hallways!! The only drawbacks I found was that there were no in-room frig's or microwaves in the one bedroom rooms, and there are no vending machines to be found on the grounds. So if you want a soda late at night, it's either opening the mini-bar and buying a $3 soda or driving 5 minutes to the gas station. GAS STATION PLEASE!! Seriously, guys, this is the place to go if you want to have a memorable honeymoon. If you have any ?'s feel free to e-mail me at brownboy77777@yahoo.com.

The Best Place I Ever Stayed At

    from chiarfk

This was my 18th Trip to Orlando and the first time I stayed at the Villas of Grand Cypress. This was by fay the best hotel that I have ever stayed at in Orlando or anywhere else. The staff is friendly and can't do enough for you. The grounds are beautiful. There is so much to do here you never have to leave the resort. The room I stayed in was out of this world. It is hard to believe you can seem so far removed from all of the activities at Disney yet be so close. If you really want to unwind this is the place to go.

    A non-Disney paradise!!

    from jmzwiers

My husband and I just returned from our visit to Orlando. This was my 2nd visit to t he area and my husband's 1st. We wanted to run around the theme parks during the day, but preferred to remove ourselves from the Disney chaos and noise once we left the parks. We were very pleasantly suprised that our stay at the Villas allowed us to do both very easily. The location is excellent - there's a back way to the Disney properties, avoiding any traffic whatsoever. Also, the Villas are very close to I-4, which took us down the road to the Universal Studios parks and a trip to New Smyrna Beach (wonderful beach, by the way!)

The service at the Villas was friendly and attentive. The villas were wonderful. I'm a very light sleeper and will wake upon hearing the slightest of noises. I swear, when you're in your villa at night, it's like you're the only one on the property. VERY quiet, very peaceful. The only noise we heard was the faint sound of the Disney fireworks at night. We were lucky enough to have a view of the fireworks out our back window, so we didn't mind.

One of the features that made the trip so nice was being able to have access to the amenities down the street at the Hyatt Grand Cypress. Another beautiful hotel, with the most amazing swimming pools I've ever seen. So what that the previous reviewers thought the pool was too cold. It was, but after schlepping around theme parks in the sun and mid-90 temperatures all day, it felt wonderful.

We did have one hiccup during our stay at the Villas. We returned one evening and found my husband's eye glasses bent to hell, with one of the lenses popped out. It appeared the maid accidentally knocked them off the nightstand and stepped on them. She returned them, maybe not even knowing that she damaged them. Who knows. She didn't claim responsibility, so it was our word versus the maid's word. After some phone calls to management, they told us to send them the bill.

All-in-all, I heartily recommend a stay at the Villas. The grounds are gorgeous and lush, the staff is attentive, and you can't beat the location. One thing I forgot to mention is that the main drag outside the grounds has lots of wonderful restaurants. If you're tired of paying an arm and a leg for meals at the parks, you might find this a more affordable option.

    Happy travels!

    We love this place!

    from anonymous

We LOVE this place! We have been staying at Cypress point since our son was very little. It's an ideal location...off Disney property, but right across the street. It's actually easier to get to Downtown Disney or the Theme Parks from this hotel than from some of the Disney properties. The rooms are really spacious and well maintained. The amenities are fantastic! The pools, mini-golf, activities, and convience store make this an easy place to stay. I always check prices on HotelKingdom...they tend to run some really great rate rates.

The perfect place to stay in Orlando

    from TM99

This is a fabulous place to stay in Orlando - especially if you prefer to eat your breakfast in peace overlooking lakes and verdant golf-courses, rather than eating waffles with Mickey Mouse and 300 other people!

The property is quite magnificent and the Villas well-appointed and extremely spacious. The service is of a consistently high calibre and includes a very efficient and complimentary shuttle service - we never waited more than 5 minutes when we called.

You can borrow bikes to cycle round, as well as horseride or play golf on any 1 of their 3 courses. But the real bliss is that you can escape from the "other" Orlando of theme parks and discount designer outlet shops, but it's all only a few minutes away when you want it.

    Incredible!

    from Fredeez

WOW! This is a first class resort and upon arrival, it was as if we were royalty. We were greeted at check in where our car doors were graciously opened and a complimentary drink was available. Following check in a concierge hopped in a golf cart to lead us to our room and bring in our luggage. We travel a lot and the Villas were a treat! They are all located along the golf course and have beautiful views outside your personal patio. The pool was beautiful with a waterfall and there were only 4 other people there in the middle of the day. Their poolside service was excellent and made to order smoothies were wonderful. Their dining rooms were great at the clubhouse. The golf range is free for guests of the Villas, they load you up with clubs and a cart to use.

They have free bike rental as well to travel around the property which is great unless it is raining. Our stay here was five star and we definitely want to go back!
