I now leave Clitheroe and move on a few miles to a tiny, but beautiful village at the edge of the Forest of Bowland (not a forest any more but some rather spectacular moors). ... Rochdale the narrow boats were almost pushing their way through the floating rubbish. I don't understand Rochdale - the people I talked to were well aware of the mess but quite accepting of it. I wonder why they tolerate it, why don't they get off their butts and set up litter picking groups to sort the mess out - it wouldn't take much effort?
