Last Day Cruising on the Avon

We left Bidford on Avon about 0900 and after 8 miles and 6 locks, we arrived in Stratford about 1400 hrs. It was focused cruising as the rains have raised river levels almost to the point where cruising will be prohibited. Luckily for us, we just have to lock into the Stratford on Avon Canal to get to the boat hire mooring. We plan to stay moored on the Avon thru Wed. Nite and then head on Thurs. to where ...

Talk about a wake up call and I had just been reading about the Nov. 1913 Great Lakes hurricane that killed hundreds of sailors. I soon found myself standing on deck firing up the diesel to recharge the batteries so we would have heat. Both of us now have "sea legs". When we're on land, especially when sitting, the room rocks and that's ...

Packing pretty much completed, we headed into Cheltenham to watch Sport at Dean Close. I met ...

... with their shirts off. Loads of laughs, hilarious, the weather's been kind to us and it's a great knees-up. Mac falls asleep in Monnie's sleeping bag in the ground where we're standing, Julia starts to sleep on the chairs in the marquee to find they're not that comfy so she heads to the ground in a sleeping bag right next to Mac. We've booked the taxi, it comes at midnight. Great timing I think we've all had a bloody great night. Morning, Mac & Paul head ...

We worked so hard we had a free day off on Thursday, so we went to Ross-on-Wye where we wandered around. Despite the fact the town was small and there was a town map, it took us awhile to find the church where there were views of the river. On Saturday we went to Ledbury to catch a train to Hereford, the biggest town in Herefordshire where they were having ...
