Finished the cereal we've had left over at the hostel. Walked to the car, filled up the tank just outside Edinburgh and headed towards Durham. Stopped on the coast after Dunbar for a few photos of the cliffs. Continued the long drive south to Durham. Arrived at The Sands car park at 2. ... It has a beach on side of the rod and amusement arcades on the other side, plus fish and chip shops, rock shops, souvenir shops and cafes. From there we had a trip home through very misty moors to a cold van and a very rainy and windy night.

Lots of the UK is currently getting heavy rain with flood warnings. We have missed all that but it is a bit miserable at the moment.

York is a medieval city first built by the Romans and later dominated by the Vikings. It's a walled city, but unlike most other walled cities we’ve visited, this wall is in excellent shape and you can actually climb to the top and walk all the way around it, about 3 miles. Of course, before we left York, we walked a good stretch of it.
