    Goodbye noisy polluted amazing New York, here I am, in a lovely town not far from Hudson where my Amtrak train arrived. My friend Phil came to pick me up, I will stay 4 nights with him and his family.

    So nice a place to live. lots of land, to Belgian standards, the house surrounded by lawns, a little pond in the corner, trees and a little wood and even a little brook!

    The house is beautiful, and a sign indicates the given name: "Linker Oever", ...

    ... sent. And so we hailed them on channel 16 as we approached this morning but they were busy with a mast. There were other places we could go down the creek but we yelled at the first person we saw on shore as we passed by and it was the owner- he stopped what he was doing and told us what slip to go to and came to help us dock.     Have a look at a few of the photos of Eleanor’s unpretentious home Val-Kill. Just remember them when you see the photos from the Vanderbilt Estate later in the day! Really. Such a contrast in one day. Our U.S. history and times are fascinating.
