I'm starting to fade and decide it's time to hunt out food but not before a very brief look inside St Patrick's Cathedral. A pitstop at QV Square, a city block of arcades, businesses and laneways filled with shops, that opens out to a sunny astroturf centre surrounded by a mixture of building styles.

On the move again and it's past the State Library of Victoria and around to the Old Melbourne Gaol. Not inspired to wander around ...

... platform to feel the wind. When I went to the restaurant to buy an ice cream, I noticed the race coming on and had a great view of the screen. #3 won, by a nose hair. Everyone was yelling for their horse. Especially those who'd placed bets. It was fun to watch, though I knew nothing about it, because the locals had so much fun with it. And those hats. I wanted to take photos of some of them, but was too embarrassed.

... Street (nice bars – of which we ended up in the same one I went to 7 years ago by complete accident), and St Kilda for a windy sarnie on the beach. (And we thought the water at Bondi was cold, this was even colder. Still paddled then - I manned up). Tick.
