We spent a long weekend in Oundle, about 10 miles (16.1 kms) from Peterborough, where we stayed with Margaret’s cousin, Sheila, and her husband Ron. Oundle is a large and very pretty village/small town in Northamptonshire, with everything including a prestigious Public (private) school.

... the villages that, for the most part, still belong to Althorp, home of the Earl of Spencer. After a bit of a drive, we ended up in Kingsthorpe where we got stuck in traffic. At first, we thought it was road works, but it ended up just being a very long queue to get onto a road. Eventually, we made it to the Northampton town centre, where Avril took me to visit the beautiful Guildhall.
