    Goodbye noisy polluted amazing New York, here I am, in a lovely town not far from Hudson where my Amtrak train arrived. My friend Phil came to pick me up, I will stay 4 nights with him and his family.

    So nice a place to live. lots of land, to Belgian standards, the house surrounded by lawns, a little pond in the corner, trees and a little wood and even a little brook!

    The house is beautiful, and a sign indicates the given name: "Linker Oever", ...

    ... of green trees. But boy is it all coming at once! We did not have time to seal the mast collar, barely time to get the dodger and bimini back up, and did not have time to plug in until it let up a bit a few hours later. When the rain slowed a bit we got out of the boat to investigate the music we were hearing, and it led us to an open air bar with a live band: Dock Street Station.     ... good service, very nice man, looks like a nice marina in case anyone is in the area! Troy Federal Lock was the only one without hanging ropes, we had to loop our lines around a pipe instead. After the last lock we hit tidal waters.... time to pay attention and plan our runs accordingly from now on. It was interesting to pass through the bigger cities of Troy and Albany, and for me it was fun to see Albany from a completely different point of view! After Albany's shipping yards ...
