The old town of Lijiang
Lijiang is a maze of cobbled streets, rickety wooden buildings and canals.
Very easy to get lost, which we did, wandering through the lanes and alleys lined with stalls making and selling beautiful handcrafts and knick-knacks.
I love coming to a new place and seeing all the different styles of street foods, here they call them Naxi snacks. One style ...

He had no teeth but did not need glasses for reading and he showed us the skin on his arms which was like a baby’s. His secret he told us was to avoid ...
Golden Eagles and Venetian Alleys
... I got stung by the entrance fees at the Jade gardens -you don’t have to pay for old-town entrance tickets if you stay there, but you have to get one + an entrance fee if you visit any of the sites around, which frankly isn’t worth the $13. The bike was a great way to escape the crowds, see some similar but nigh-on deserted ‘old towns’ and any other weird sites like a bizarre cultish monument/sacrificial site in the middle of nowhere and a pigeon copulation center ...
