Hot Pot Feast

A travel blog entry by travelbee

HE SAID: It's been 2 days now in Taiwan (Taipei) and I really like it here. It's different from other part of Asia in that there is no pushing, shoving, spitting, etc. People here really are special and in 2 days we have already had more than 3 people that showed extraordinary kindness. In addition, I really enjoyed the 30 minute cable car ride up …

Day 4

We cannot believe that time has flown by so fast! Today was the fourth day of our trip! We took a four hour bus ride to the village of Juifen. There we went shopping on a very narrow street with a lot of shops, and we had a lot of fun at a shop that sells prank toys. After that, we went to the ...

... place is at the end of the red line. It's about a 5-10min walk from the nearest train station and thereafter another 30min climb to the summit. Visibility was good even at night so it's safe to come here after the sun sets. In fact you should come here at night to enjoy the scenery. This spot gives you the best possible view of Taipei and definitely should not be missed.

The Great Escape!

... be fair this place is pretty big, relative to the other small towns along this line. The scenery along these towns are brilliant! Practically lying next to the river and sitting at the bottom of beautiful mountains and hills. The most memorable thing about this place? The stall selling sausages. The queue is amazingly long, but it was definitely worth the wait. The sausage was wrapped in a glutinous rice bread, like a hot dog. ...

... the same. There was the Princess Rock as well as the Queen's head. Before too long, they will be headless. James did say that the main attraction, the Queen's head, will eventually lose her head. The Park has already created a fake version of one as well as reinforcing the real Queen's head neck with concrete. That's like finding out that (Note: Spoiler Alert) the von Trapp family did not climb over the Swiss Alps to escape the Nazis. They caught a local train to ...

    Unexpected find!

Great accommodation in the city with complimentary mini bar & wireless internet access (very important)! Just 8 mins walk to nearest MRT station at Yong Chun station along the blue line.
Stay was as good as the Sheraton Taipei! Great amenities in the room, bed was real comfy and huge. Breakfast wasn't something you wana specially wake up for though.
They even had a washing machine and dryer in one of the cupboards which was real helpful! Lurve the bathroom, and the tub which had a TV for you to soak away in the night. Located just next to Primo, for those interested to try out Taiwanese night life.
