Slumber Party!

After the movie, everyone went back to Indu Jiji's. We ended up just having our own party. More ping pong, great food, and lots of "masti" – which loosely translated means fun and relaxation.

We had an early flight the next morning and planned to stay up with everyone as late as possible. Two highlights of the evening: Kamal Jijaji’s birthday and one-card game.

At midnight, Indu Jiji and her kids came out with a cake for Jijaji ...

During the afternoon, we just had a blast at the house. We played a ton of ping pong, talked and laughed with everyone, and Bhupesh and the guys went out for coffee too. Aarti and her baby came, as well as Kamal Jijaji and his two daughters Radhika and Ruthika. It was a full house with a ton of noise and action – the only way to be!

In the evening, 22 people ...

The Drive to Hyderabad

... came home from work and visited with us. He very much remembered and enjoyed Bhupesh’s visit to India in 1999 and Jijaji’s nature is very fun and full of life. Their family was busy with a wedding and the fact that they were able to see us and spend some time with us was very special.

The drive to Hyderabad was uneventful. When we got there, we went straight to this temple called the Birla ...

Porcelain Tile

... and, once installed, is almost maintenance free. For one thing, they will never need painting. The PVC Ceiling Panel come in a white, high gloss finish, making them adaptable to any bathroom décor, whether it's traditional or modern. Because they come in a tongue and groove design, the panels simply slot together. The join is flush, just about invisible, and will not promote the growth of mould. To ...

Shopping till I drop!

... Bye Bye Bye, the Titanic song, Sting, Livin’ la vida loca, and other things. I think that we amused the driver when some of people in the group would sing along with the music.

So, what goods did I rack up? I bought a water bottle and a hand towel from West Side, which seemed a rather expensive store. I paid like 250 rupees for my water bottle!! Then, I picked up my two newly made salwar kameez at Cali Shop on Abids and also bought two more that I will pick ...

Visit to Golconda Fort

... sun made it hard going. The fort is on a hill and there are a lot of steps to climb to get to the top. It is a great view of the city. We thought we could go through on our own but the guides kept at us. The first one wanted to charge us 750 rupees. I said we were fine and walked off. We were approached by two more guides and finally one ...

Bye, Bye, Mumbai!

Amy: When we boarded the train at Victoria Station in Mumbai, we were surprised and very pleased to find that the 1st Class AC compartments had 2 bunk beds with 2 beds each (instead of 3 beds, upper, middle, and lower bunks in 2nd and 3rd class). There was a locking door, lights, mirrors, window shades, and no bars on the windows, in addition to small tables. We got settled and met our roommates, a man and his son (about ...

I don't understand equality ...

... But, I barely know her ... and we are not able to communicate at all. Even so she aparently asks me a lot of questions - or so it seems by the tone. I tend to get frustrated by my inability to deal with the whole situation and just shake my head. It feels very wierd ... but I suppose one has to get used to it right? I mean, she's getting paid right? But, the reality is that it is not that simple. It is not like the U.S. where I have heard of ...
