... to a ridgeline above the creek, the only steep part of the trail. There was the 29-foot cascade, though it was barely a drip and then a short ways later, we came to a cliff overlook for Overall Run Falls. Well, we were supposed to be able to see the waterfall from here, but there wasn’t much to see. Due to the dry conditions of the summer, the waterfall was barely a trickle. But the hike ...

We done a day trip to the historic village of Harpers Ferry which borders 3 states. A great little place for lunch and packed with tourists.
The next day we took a quick ride up to West Virginia so I could tick another state off on my bike then we headed for Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive.
Had an amazing ride along the ridge of the mountains with stunning fall scenery. Even saw a couple of baby bears in a tree which caused the usual 'bear jam'. ...

... and headed back. We had all brushed our teeth and washed faces and were heading to bed when we drove past the amphitheatre and saw by the program schedule that there was going to be a talk. So we stopped and took part, the title of the talk was why Bats are not rats and the familiarity of animals that confuses people it was very interesting.

By the end the boys were tired and cold and we headed back to the camp for a good ...
