Well, I guess we had to hit the tough days sooner or later.

I picked up the car and found that it would end up costing more than double what was originally quoted- long story and not worth repeating but the bottom line is I need to top up our cash card...

An unfortunate outcome of Angus having his wallet stolen is that he doesn't have evidence of his drivers licence. As a result of this, he is navigator and I am driver. Suffice to say that these roles don't play to our ...

Caught up with the relatives at Toli's place. Richard bbq'd and we ate. Julie had managed to talk Laura and Rebecca to donate some shoes to her collection, plus Laura gave Julie an unused handbag. We tried to coordinate some travels together so working rosters were compared with our travel plans. Hopefully we will work something out. After eating we said good bye and headed back to Southwell to pack. Packing completed we went to bed getting a but excited about going to ...

We have had a quiet couple of days, planning future trips to Edinburgh and Amsterdam. Also trying to get our prepaid (pay as you go) mobile topped up and on a plan allowing overseas texts and UK phone calls at a reasonable rate. Still working on the mobile. Accommodation in Edinburgh sorted, right in the centre if town. It isn't the cheapest but it has free parking and we know from ...

... in the windows! So like the nosey person I am - I knocked on the door and we met the new tenant. It felt weird to chat with someone living in our old place but that was our home 10 years ago. Then off to the Brunny for a pint and to look for our creemore bottle we donated to their collection. A lovely Mexican dinner and we called it a night!! It is good to back in ...

    Some kids have a hobby....

    from

...their hobby is attempting to run this joke of a hotel in Derby.

Loved the decor, staff issues are prominent

    from

Stayed here recently and was impressed the modern decor of the place. when i went to check in i was dissapointed that my reservation was not in the system. the receptionist didnt seem to care and no apology was offered, however i can let that go she was 'busy' as she pointed out to me!! there was no offer of luggage assistance anddirections to my room were sketchy. got to my room and was initailly disapointed about the size. the facities were however good, the rooms had been given alot of thought. The bar was good and table service was a nice touch. went into the restuarant which was very modern. The menu was average, but i let it go. service was good, friendly but not over familiar. Atmosphere was non existent, please change the music!!!!

Brilliant stay at nice designer hotel

    from

i enjoyed my stay at the hotel and thought it was very nice. I thought I should mention this after seing all the reviews below.Good food and nicely decorated - reminded me of a hotel I stayed in rome recently, modern, clean up to date and fresh.

Brilliant 4 star hotel. YEAH RIGHT

    from

i have made a reservation through a company i wish not to name.it has been advertised as a 4 star hotel but i wouldnt give it a one star.i think that they are breaking the law because they advertise as a 4 star hotel but it is not.i have stayed in one of the rooms and i had no toilet paper, no bath towels and no warm water. The heating system did not work so the room was freezing, i honestly thought i was sleeping outside.i paid ?180.00 for this dump.I went to the liquid bar and the service was disgusting. The blonde barmaid was very rude so i had a drink and then went to the xs restaurant. The restaurant was not that busy and i expected a better service. The food was nice and i think the chefs are working for the wrong company because they should be working at a better place then this dump.

    Not four star standard

    from

never stay at this hotel it is most definitely the worst hotel and service i have ever encountered !when we arrived at the hotel it was the manager that checked us in and on first impressions i was quite pleased as it looked exactly as i was expecting . how wrong can you be ! room on ground floor was unfinished ,stains on walls ,room cold, dirty bedding, shower leaking ,room not cleaned properly ,outside room unsafe wires hanging down from ceiling ,open bare staircase, piles of laundry on floor etc, etc, could go on forever! complained to manager who offered no explanation or help to which we checked out after one night even though we had already paid for two and no refund as of yet!!!

    Very impressed

    from

We stayed over the Valentines weekend. The hotel looked like it was in the last stages of a total referb. The room was very comfortable as was the rest of the hotel. The meals were very good and the staff were helpful and friendly. In fact I can not find fault with the hotel at all.

    Beware the building works

    from

This hotel was much hyped as a top class venue but the results were disappointing. I found that the first floor was still a building site.

    TRUELY AWFUL

    from

This place was a dump. I even got DCC health and safety round the next day. No running water in the room. The restaurant was flooded the room a suana ( not big enough to swing a cat) boiling hot up 2 flights of stairs with builder rubble and a dreadful duputy manager never ever go to this hotel

Unforgettable but for the wrong reasons

    from

No offer of assistance up 2 flights of stairs with heavy suitcase.

Booked a double room but was given a single. The double room that I was moved to had a leaky radiator and although I informed the management they did not have it mended during the week I stayed. Breakfast took over half an hour to arrive one morning although the restuarant was not even a quarter full. I am also in disputed over the bill as they charged both myself and my company and took money without my authorisation. The decor in the refurbished areas is fantastic but it is a pity that the service didn't match. I would never revisit
