... from here. There are houses here, but no people, probably all down at the ship. We take a shore path back, passing a ruin which has been enveloped by tree roots, reminiscent of Angkor Wat, but do not find the sea on this side of the peninsular.
The weather has deteriorated, so we return to the ship and a well-earned late lunch and a rest. On the way out just on dark ...
... adorning the fuselage was beautiful and we got good seats. I mentioned to Des that I had hooked the spare keys to the bikes onto our baggage, which is when Des realized that he left the main key to his bike at home. Doh!
At times during the flight the outside temperature was -60 degrees Celsius which is understandable when you’re flying over Antarctica. It was a beautiful sight looking down on the ...
Arrived into Sydney yesterday. Our apartment is in North Sydney and this is not the liveliest of areas but today we walked over Harbour Bridge, neither of us fancied climbing it! Visited the Rocks, the Opera House and have booked to see a comedy there. Hoping to meet up with my nephew over the weekend. In haste-sorry still cant do photos!!
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia kirstenherridge... the invitation to join them (midnight) and they passed the remains of their BYO booze to Hughie as they wouldn’t be allowed to take it into pubs. He gained 4 bottles of beer. Everyone was so friendly.
We find that wherever we go the Australians are keen to know where we come from, and what we’re planning while we’re here. You just need to look at a map in the street and someone will ask if they can help.
... and the Opera House. And it was a gorgeous twenty nine degrees in the middle of winter. Warmer than it currently is back in Blighty. Every half an hour they have specialist talks which nicely break the day up. I went to the owl chat, the chimpanzee keeper talk, the sea-lion display and the spider lecture. Now, I hate spiders. So attending this was a bit like aversion therapy. I was unnerved to learn that of the ten deadliest spiders in the world, ten lived in Australia ...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia dantheeducator... snack on some fruit! well we were sitting there and i thought i kept seeing stuff off the coast, and finally it came all the way out of the water, and it was a whale! Sydney, New South Wales, Australia tqhall... our walkie-talkies…. No answer. Grrrr. Where could they be?
So I wrote them a note telling them we’re gonna go grab some lunch and we’ll be back in an hour if they get back. I slipped under it their door, and we left to go look for food along the boardwalk in Darling Harbour.
Surely, not ten minutes of walking on the boardwalk later, I get a page on the walkie talk from Jeff. They had just come back from their own walk on the ...
... 8211; HKG – MNL – it was a matter of deciding what to do, and where to stay.
Starting with the USA and having a two week layover at LAX I needed to fill in some cities in between, book some domestic US flights and hopefully get to tick some of the boxes off my travel list.
Firstly, Los Angeles was a definite starter city as it was my port of arrival and departure on the American mainland. New York is then a must for every ...
... tiny secluded beaches of Nielsen Park back towards Rose Bay. I can't help taking pictures of that amazing skyline. I spot a couple of anglers - surely there is no better fishing spot on earth - not only is the view magnificient but no sooner have the cast the line that something is biting. Feeling rewarded and somewhat healthy - I treat myself to a glass of wine at Wagamamas that evening - craving the Yaki Udon ever since Japan and hit the cinema to see The ...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia codownsean... coast, i hadn't come many aboriginal people or racism. however, it would turn out that the farther in you go into the outback, the more of both you get. so there we were, in the middle of coober pedy, and there i was getting my first glimpse of this so called problem - aboriginal people just lost with what to do next. and there would be a lot more... as for coober pedy, during our time in this crazy town, our first stop was the old timer's mine and museum. once someone's home, after ...
