    End of the long road

    ... about 120 miles or so. As always I took the slow and twisty road via Coldstream. It might be a bit longer but its so much more relaxing due to not having so much traffic.

    The weather was nice on the way up but as per usual on most UK roads this road was full of muddy tractor marks and by the time I got near Edinburgh me and the bike were simply covered in mud from top to bottom. What is it with UK roads?? I travel for thousands ...

    ... found a spot next to a river for lunch, it turned out to be the headquarters for a fishing club. We ate very quickly so we didn't get caught in the rain for too long. Once we got to Stirling we booked into our caravan park and the B&B for Dad Davidson so he didn't have to sleep in the tent in torrential rain then headed to the Wallace Monument. Turns out they charge about £20 ($35) for you to go up the hill to look at it so we skipped that and headed to the castle instead. ...

    ... at the end of the Royal Mile. We toured the Palace and learned about its history. The Palace is a residence of the Queen and her family and they stay there every summer.     So in my true style of exploring the world one election at a time I went up to Edinburgh for the the European elections. The first time I was going to this city I wasn't ready for what a treat it turned out to be.

    I went to 'The Stand' a commedy venue, which was ok but is most memorable for losing a contact because I laughed too hard. This made the rest of the trip a litle hard particularly the next day (Saturday) when I went up for a day to the Highlands. ...
