    Arrived in London. Plane was not full so was able to lay down across 3 seats and slept for about 4-5 hours. Arrived at London airport and felt like a mouse in a maze trying to find its cheese. Hit a lot if deadends and MANY security stations. Finally made it to my gate. Flight to Ireland leaves in about 30 minutes. Friends have emailed they r going to pick me up. So all is well.     ... because, much to my surprise the guy at the Alitalia check in desk told me I had to prove my onward travel from Brazil before I'd even got on the plane. On reflection this makes mores sense than refusing people entry once they get to Brazil and then deporting them but thankfully I whipped out an email showing the plane ticket to Santa Cruz in Bolivia that I'd bought the previous day. Sorted.

    ... it. I checked that it was definitely OK for me to be there and she said yes, so in I went and set up my position for the night... Of course, after only 15 minutes or so two security men appeared on their round of the terminal and kicked me out! The fact that I'd been told it was OK didn't make any difference with them, so I had to go back to where I'd been sitting before.

    ... our mosquito nets, and a mountain of pills for avoiding malaria, high blood pressure etc (to try to keep 2 OAPs alive for 6 months), and our marmalade sandwiches (for Grandad of course) and a few pieces of Scottish Tablet** (to make Nanny feel at home), as well as flip flops (for going you know where) and a toilet roll each (for doing you know what) - there was very little room for clothes!
