Last stop for the day was The Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew, a suburban district of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, the longest tube ride we took. Christmas at Kew is described as a glittering after-dark, mile long trail of sparkling giant snowflakes, Santa's Snowflake Grotto, and many other light displays ...

... store so took the opportunity to go in to have a look at a few bits and bobs that we need. Then along an old tram track in to the main part of the town, past some very decrepid-looking houses and boarded-up shops, not an auspicious start! We found loads of charity and pound shops, Lidl and not much else, obviously a somewhat poor seaside town. Once we came to the front it was mainly burger stalls and knick-knack shops, but we walked about a mile one way ...
