Although the rooms are small, the location is convenient from Paddington but it DOES NOT include breakfast although they do will offer you a very overpriced one downstairs which I would not recommend. We arrived from an early flight and they were able to accommodate an early check-in which we really appreciated. This is our second time at a Shaftesbury which we find perfect for an overnighter in London.

After saying goodbye to Toli and Saint Richard we left Mansfield and headed to Nottingham Train Station. Accompanied by Cousins Louise and Rebecca, MDW and I dragged our bags with the help of the cousins aboard the train to London. We could not of managed without their help. ... famous Westminster Abbey. It was a full day of religious observance.

We started the day at Westminster. We took the free audio tour and wandered into every part of the huge church the staff would let us go. This thing is magnificent, no picture can do it justice. Which is fine because you can't take pictures inside anyway, so I have nothing to show you. The entire church is magnificent- everything is ornate and gorgeous, the ...

... poses we headed off towards Lucca.

Arriving in Lucca was like another planet. We were very surprised when we discovered that we were parked up next to Pokémon, goblins, robots and zombies as the town was taken over by the Italian Comics and Games festival. We were able to spend the night bopping along bands blaring out covers of cartoon theme songs. Incredible. The next day got even better. Everyone in town was dressed as their favourite character. It ...

... an underground spring, this is a great lido and swimming area and is also a portion of the Running Club. Around 110 pedals and rowboats are found here. The Running Club is so called as it uses the park’s tracks and also ensures that tourists have their sport to enjoy and attend. One also has the Serpentine Bar and Kitchen where one can binge for all culinary delights.

... filled only to be told that there was no charge for that either! The next day it was my turn to find a "walk-in clinic" to get some advice about my swollen ankle and conjunctivitis. A 1 hr. wait and also no charge! I was home again by lunchtime and this still allowed us time to go back to see the memorial display of 888,000 ceramic poppies which had been placed at the Tower of London. It was a moving display and a fitting way to spend our last afternoon in ...
