Sleepwalking through London

A travel blog entry by babsbusch

Me again, I'm just sitting in the hotel room while Zach is at his consulate appointment so I thought I'd tell you about our day yesterday...

We got off the airplane and breezed through customs and had our bags within an hour.

We then realized we would hit rush hour so decided to mill about for a little bit and use the airport wifi …

The architecture along our walk is amazing with detailed facades, archways and pillars galore. I'm surprised our necks don't kink from looking up all the time. (I'm also grateful to the courteous pigeons who don't take advantage of our gawking!)

... to see. They were not quite up to the standard of the choir of last evening, but they were nothing to sneeze at! It was wonderful to be serenaded with Christmas music while I wandered around taking photographs, for which I had to pay £1 on top of the visitor entry fee of £4. A bargain.

In addition to being able to closely view the different architecture, I was able to see the tomb of Rahere, the founder of the priory and hospital. ...

Although the rooms are small, the location is convenient from Paddington but it DOES NOT include breakfast although they do will offer you a very overpriced one downstairs which I would not recommend. We arrived from an early flight and they were able to accommodate an early check-in which we really appreciated. This is our second time at a Shaftesbury which we find perfect for an overnighter in London.
