Although the rooms are small, the location is convenient from Paddington but it DOES NOT include breakfast although they do will offer you a very overpriced one downstairs which I would not recommend. We arrived from an early flight and they were able to accommodate an early check-in which we really appreciated. This is our second time at a Shaftesbury which we find perfect for an overnighter in London.

After saying goodbye to Toli and Saint Richard we left Mansfield and headed to Nottingham Train Station. Accompanied by Cousins Louise and Rebecca, MDW and I dragged our bags with the help of the cousins aboard the train to London. We could not of managed without their help. We took up all available luggage shelves and settled in for the two hour …

We covered a lot of ground today starting with a walk down Portobello Rd. At its busiest on Sunday with the antique markets there were still a number of fresh food and other stalls opening. We remember Portobello Rd best from Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Then it was off to Hyde Park Corner and a walk down to Wellington Arch just in time to see the mounted Horse Guard pass by. We were on the balcony 4 floors up to watch this. Then it was off to the Changing of the ...

... extortionate, which meant that we had sorted out our own, but it gave one the constant feeling that they were trying to fleece us.

Perhaps the most irritating of all was the daily tip they added to your bill, 'so that you would not have the worry or trouble of finding the right crew member on the last day'.

... sliced beetroot and then little. It's of goats cheese! No lettuce!! For mains I order a gruyere cheese tart hitch I imagined to be - well a tart! No it was paper thin crepe the size of a dinner plate with a tiny bit of cheese grated on it, a few pieces of a very thick bacon and a sprinkle of rocket! Like a pizza! Graeme had half - it was nice but not really a tart to me! I finished with a baked apple and it was just that! An old fashioned baked apple with fruit ...
