Although the rooms are small, the location is convenient from Paddington but it DOES NOT include breakfast although they do will offer you a very overpriced one downstairs which I would not recommend. We arrived from an early flight and they were able to accommodate an early check-in which we really appreciated. This is our second time at a Shaftesbury which we find perfect for an overnighter in London.

... into the city was way too scary.

Dinner was another great catch-up and again the kids got on really well, which always helps. In fact we were having such a great chat that we seemed to lose track of time again, so yet again another late night as not only did we leave late but we had to get home on the overground, rather than the Tube which it turns out is quite a bit slower. Our poor kids – lucky it wasn't a school ...

... tour and rode around for a couple of hours. Please note a great photo of the tour bus expediter, Electra, who noted that she was proudly Greek; hence the name. She was not aware of the Opera of her namesake so Melissa and I filled her in on that. She loved the information. The tour bus ride was quite fun. There are a number of photos of various sights, including Big Ben, the Tower Bridge, and ...

... It also serves as home to the ruling British monarch until 1530. It manages to survive what came to be known infamously as the Gunpowder Plot in 1605 by a group of militant Catholics who wanted to blow up the monarch King James I with his minsters within. Then there was immense damaged caused by a massive fire in 1834. The magnificent hall known as Westminster Hall built in 1097 was one of the few ...

As all the things we have been doing over the past couple of days are things we have done before I haven't felt the need/desire to write about them. I guess those of you who are reading this might be interested though! On Monday morning we went to the Museum of London and had a look around. There haven't been many changes since the last time we were there but they do have the flame from the London Olympics on display which was very interesting to ...

... Hopefully we will see them in Australia at some point?

Emma dropped us at the station and we caught the train to Waterloo and then the Underground to Leicester Square. It was lunchtime and raining when we got there so we ducked into Jamie's Italian for a quick bite. This was one of Jamie Oliver's restaurants and it was packed. We all had pasta for lunch and it was great. Dad even had a glass of wine but Mum said she couldn't face it ...
