Historical Traveler Reviews Serene Hotel & Suites Ocean City

    Worst hotel ever period.

    from

stayed for 4th of July, paid top money and got the worst customer service along with the nastiest and dirtiest rooms ever. And god forbid if you say or ask for anything from the staff, they treat you like S**t. Demanded to talk to the manager or owner the FD personnel said manager is not available as he went out to the party and owner cannot be disturbed right now as he is busy with the "HOUSEKEEPER" in his apt which is on the back of the front office. And obviously there is "NO REFUND" policy.

    Ugly, nasty, horrible

    from

My worst hotel experience ever. A lot of money for nasty hotel room and bathroom. Small and dirty pool. Dirty towels and carpet along with bed spread and shower curtain. the worst part was the attitude of the staff. not helpful at all, it seemed like they were doing us a huge favor by taking our money and letting us stay in the worst hotel in town. wouldn't even try to help. STAY AWAY.

    Nasty

    from

I can't say enough about how disappointed and grossed out we were. My husband and i were looking so forward to getting away. I was worried when i could get a reservation for only two days instead of the three day minium. The beds were like sleeping on the floor. The bathroom was the worst. The shower curtain had mold growing on it halfway up, this tells you its been there for quite sometime. I asked the girl who was cleaning the next room if i could have another shower curtain. She told me she would see if she had anymore and of course there was'nt any. I told her there was no way i would take a shower with that curtain and i was going to buy one. So off to Wal-Mart where i purchased a shower curtain, lysol and clorox. That's how bad my husband and i wanted to get away. I still did'nt feel comfortable and should have went home, but we know about the no refund policies, don't we. Take my advise, take cleaning supplies, towels and shower curtain if you must stay there.

---- house,, please do not stay here

OMG!! OK So I booked this hotel online,, We wanted a cheaper hotel in Ocean city. Preferably one without hookers!!So we get there at around 1am after a long drive from NY. THe sign on the door said be back in 15 minutes. THe pool was right on the street..Nasty! So the man finally comes back, and we first ask to see a room cause the outside looked like a dump! So he gives us the keys and we walk up a flight of stairs to see a shopping cart with blankets, Then we look to the right and the door to a room was wide open with red lights and room numbers painted on the walls,, R1 R2 R3,, a broken down fridge and torn up carpets!!!! It was so scary our faces dropped.. My knees started shaking we were soooo Scared,, So we still attempted to find our room but couldnt find it.. we felt so uncomfortable walking around. I think if we would have stayed here we wouldve been raped or worse!!!! Not a place that four girls would like to come home to at night!! So we couldnt find the room,, We went into the office n demanded our money back. I guess the man could see how scared we were so he ignored the no refund policy n refunded our deposit back.. AS we were leaving we saw a girl with a very short crooked skirt walking up to the rooms that we saw!! Hmm I wonder where the man went when the sign said be back in 15 minutes??? So We went driving for a hotel and found that for 20$more per person for 3 nights we could stay at the Bonita beach hotel,, Absolutely beautiful,,, kitchen bathroom,, indoor outdoor pool,, balcony right on the beach!! DO not stay at the serene You have been warned!!!!

realizing it was one of the cheaper rates in Ocean City at close to peak season, we didn't expect a lot of luxuries but come on. Here's the details...the towels were full of stains that even though they had been washed, should have been bleached out. There were enough for the 4 of us to their credit. However, that's about it...the sheets were dirty and weren't changed between days. Although some of the finer hotels state you can save water by not having the sheets changed everyday, I don't think this was the case. I also don't think the floor had been vacuumed in quite a while and the box springs sides were filthy.

The air conditioning worked pretty good though, I have to give them credit for that.

Spend some extra money and try to find another hotel other than the Serene Motel unless you are desperate but even at that, I wouldn't recommend this hotel for that reason.

    It sucked

    from

i really had a problem with this hotel...i mean it was ok but it needs alot of work...my sister pointed out that the smoke alarm was out of the wall...still hooked up but out of the wall. the elevator was gross..it smelt like smoke...and urine the whole time we were there... the room was bad...it had dirt on the floor...like construction workers came in and cleaned their boots off and left. the sheets were gross. stained and yellow spots under the blankets.... and the towels..i think ill bring my own next time...so i give this hotel a BIG thumbs down!!!

    El Dumpo

    from

This place is a disaster -- wet floors in the guest room/"suite" after a rain (water seems to be coming down inside the walls), life-safety issues (lights out in stairwells and elevator lobby, and railing missing off balcony), dirty bed linens (soiled) from the previous visitor, filthy/stinky rooms on the first floor where they allow pets, and finally, a desk staff that is unresponsive, and insists on full payment in advance with "no refunds". In 40 years of travel, this is the worst place I have stayed in. STAY AT ANOTHER PLACE IN OCEAN CITY -- there are plenty of alternatives in all price ranges.

    Great Hotel, Great Customer Service

    from

Hotel Is one of best you can get for your money In Ocean City. Room we were in was a suit. It was very nice and well maintained. New furnitues and very specious. For a family of six it was perfect. The customer service is also mention worthy, specially the assistant manager and the director of maintenance were very helpfull. I heard some bad things about the so I was a little reluctant to go there. But after this visit I am so happy, I'll suggest all my friends to go there. I'll be going back there again next year with my family.

    Poor Customer Service!

    from

I read one poor review of this hotel, but thought I would give them a shot anyway. I am sorry that I did. Not only is thier customer service horrible, but the hotel needs a lot of work. Our room had mold growing on the wall behind the door. The door between the sitting area and the bedroom...you know the one that makes them call this standard room a suite...was all busted up. The elevator went out while we were there.

They did get it fixed promptly, however that was after we climbed the stairs to the fourth floor while needing to use a restroom. Then I noticed my personal towel had been taken by housekeeping. This turned into my biggest complaint. When I called to tell them about the elevator and my towel, I was told I'll have someone call you. Someone did call, they told me that the elevator does go out sometimes when it rains and that they would look for my towel. I never heard back from either of the ladies that I spoke with. It is not the ten dollar towel that mattered it was the customer service that did matter. From the initial call to make the reservation to the time we checked out I never felt like I was a paying customer. I guess my thinking that someone could at least say "I am sorry we have lost your towel" is too much to expect from a place that had poor customer service from the beginning.

    Stay Away From This Place

    from

One elevator bank smelled like urine, the other, when we came back from the beach was filled with vomit . This is no place for a family or children. Dirty. They take your credit card up front and allow no refunds. I wonder why. The pool is a joke. Need I say more.
