... course and I didn't want it in Thailand, but between the wonderful people of Bali. And I was told that there are 10 participants in the course 50/50 native and non-native speakers, which will be in the same situation as I am. So I will survive, make new friends, give the best I can and look forward to coming back to this pretty place in the East and great times to come. After all, it's "only" one month and the temperatures are supposed to be going down. It ...

... We used our now top top bartering skills to negotiate a good price from 250 idr to 100 for the trip. Feeling satisfied and excited for the next morning to arrive we had a much needed early night. We woke up by 8 to have our breakfast before we began our half day trip of snorkelling. The water was the ...

... and extinct volcanoes that make up the most of Bali. I missed most of the journey to Tulamben because I fell asleep. I woke up when we arrived with the truck jolting into the drive way of the dive site. It was a small collection of poorly constructed buildings alongside the coast. The whole place was full of divers. As soon as we arrived we started putting our kit together. Our dive kit was carried down for us to the beach by local women carrying it on ...

Candidasa - Bali Palms Resort

A travel blog entry by deepcovepeter on Dec 31, 2013

Here we are in the Bali Palms Resort in Candidasa, Bali. It has been raining since we arrived a few days ago, and the ocean shoreline here is far from the pristine beach I had expected. The hotel is on a bay with freighters anchored off-shore, the beaches are rocky with wash-up debris including plastics, palm fronds and even old furniture. The weather forecast is not promising. Helga is a little sick with a fever and ...
