First whole day in Sydney

Left the hotel at 8am, after a great night's sleep. It’s a king size bed, and if you each keep to your own side you’d think you were sleeping alone. We’ve found every bed we’ve had here to be very comfortable.

First we went to the harbour climb office to weigh up the possibilities of Hughie doing the climb this morning, but as breakfast isn’t included at the hotel, he felt he should go have some, and leave the climb for another day. He didn’t want to...

Bridge Climb

Hughie did his bridge climb today and really enjoyed it!

We checked the weather when we woke, then checked the internet and there appeared to be no availability for today, but we went along at 8.30 anyway to ask if there were cancellations. He wasn't holding out much hope, but found there was no difficulty getting a place. So the internet’s not always right.

It was a really clear day for it too, and he could see as far as the Blue Mountains. You’ll have to wait til...

Bridge over troubled waters

There was no great rush Friday morning in Christchurch, as we were not flying till mid afternoon, so we packed up and went off for a leisurely breakfast at Café Roma on the strip. It was incredibly busy and the first café I think that any of us had seen where people had booked tables for breakfast! Once we had done justice to the food, we set off for the rental office and once again we got a good example of the laid back Kiwi approach to business. Having parked the car and unloaded it, Dave e...

Where has the sun gone?

Saturday morning in Sydney was a little brighter than Friday evening when we arrived and it wasn't raining, so after I had jogged (slowly) round the harbour to the Opera House and back (and had a shower!) we set off to Paddington market for a bit of shopping and some breakfast. The market is a little like Chelmsford market at home, but on a much larger scale, but with much the same tat. I offered to buy Barb a tee shirt which read "Yes they are real" but she said that she probably wouldn't we...

Excellent location, superb hotel

from MD_MD
This is a superb hotel. Sydney is a magnificent city & this hotel is in an awesome location right under the harbor bridge. This is a renovated wharf / wool shed type hotel & has been marvellously done. The fittings and finishings are superb. The staff are so friendly & it is nice & quiet at night.

The only downside was that I had a room facing the base of the bridge & had no water views. In a room facing the harbor, this would be a perfect hotel.

Reasonably Pleased

Fantastic location, and our room had wonderful views. Only a couple of negative comments, our safe seemed to have problems and this was never resolved. The service of our room was haphazard, sometimes no clean towels etc. Missed not having laundry facilities. Meals were fair, but adequate. Despite the problems, we would stay again, mainly for the location.

Thoroughly enjoyed Pier One

from CANDD1
My wife and I just spent a lovely weekend at the Sebel Pier One in the Rocks area of Sydney. This was the last part of our grand 3 weeks in Australia and it was a great wrap-up. Pier One is in a perfect location for doing the sightseeing in Sydney. Located right next to Sydney's famous Bridge and a short walk to the Opera House made this an ideal location for us. We were able to jump onto the ferriers, trains or busses located right on the pier by Central Quay. The room that we were in had a specatular view of the bridge and it was the perfect size for us. The room was clean and the help from the staff was great. It was nice to be greeted everyday and everynight with a very warm good morning or good evening. We would recommend this hotel to anyone. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Pier One.

Fantastic Location

The Sebel Pier One Hotel is situated in the perfect location to explore Sydney. Located directly under the Harbour Bridge, the hotel is in close proximity to The Rocks, Circular Quay and the Opera House.

The hotel itself is a trendy warehouse conversion right on the water overlooking Walsh Bay. Great views from the bar and restaurant and an interesting glass panel on the floor in the bar area allowing sight of the water beneath you! The rooms are minimalistic in style with spacious glass/chrome bathroom. Its position means you can easily explore the attractions of Sydney by foot, it is close to many restaurants and bars and is so near to the start of the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge climb, it helps to motivate you to take part. (An amazing experience - just be warned the start of the climb is more scary than when you get to the top - stick with it - it's worth it!) If I am lucky enough to come back to Sydney I would definitely stay here again.

First class luxury

from A TripAdvisor Member
this hotel was first class, the staff were very friendly and helpful, situated under the harbour bridge you could not be closer to all the main attractions, and entertainment. the hotel has an excellent breakfast buffet and the rooms are cleaned daily and include complimentary newspaper. Main Sydney shopping malls and Sydney's famous Skytower (fantastic views) are only a fifteen minute casual walk away. The very close harbour area offers ferry, rail and bus transportation to a variety of locations and attractions. The day tripper ticket allows you unlimited access to all transportation for the entire day for only $15, this was great value.

New Year Delight

from A TripAdvisor Member
We spent 5 nights at the Sebel over New Year and found it to be a first class hotel. It is in an excellent location within easy walking distance of The Rocks and Circular Quay. Had a lovely room with a small balcony overlooking Walsh Bay, beautiful view. We could not have picked a better location to spend New Years Eve, under the bridge with fireworks overhead - perfect! Hotel facilities were great and the restaurant was excellent. Recommended!

Superb situation

from A TripAdvisor Member
We spent 8 nights in this wonderful hotel. Our room was extremely comfortable and spacious with excellent views over Walsh Bay. The hotel is in a great location for seeing the city and with a few minutes walk of some superb restaurants. Having said that, do try the hotel restaurant as well which was excellent value.

Great Hotel in a great City

from moonhead99
This is a really good hotel. The location under the bridge is superb and the views over the water are great. The rooms are very cool, the bathroom in particular was very trendy, glass and chrome everywhere.

The breakfasts were good and it was nice to be able to sit outside overlooking the water whilst eating. The staff were very friendly and made the stay most enjoyable. Would recommend as a great base for exploring the city.

Superb hotel, superb location

If you want to stay right on the water, under the bridge, in a fabulous location in Sydney, then Pier One is the plave to be. Within easy walking distance of Circular Quay, Bridgeclimb, The Rocks etc, etc, opposite Luna Park, this hotel and the staff are top notch.

The warehouse conversion is fabulous, rooms are gorgeous and the experience is superb.

Fully recommend you stay here.
