... sleeping and staying dry. Alex decided he was coming to Colorado with me which definitely helped lift my mood. We spent the weekend getting all of our gear together, then headed off for real.
It was hard saying goodbye to everyone, particularly Maciej. I hope we can stay in contact.
Our transit to Colorado ended up taking almost 5 days, but it was some of the best of my entire trip. Alex and I talked philosophy for hours, I started writing some poetry and Alex began ...

... to 5 feet. We were getting more and more excited as we continued on, taking pictures and saying how amazing that place was. Then, all of a sudden, the canyon comes to a stop. Our way had been blocked by huge boulders that had at one point fallen from the canyon walls into the river bed. We were quite confused about this since we did not see any signs or warnings saying that the canyon was blocked off to the public. We had not even hiked half a mile so we did ...

Yesterday's drive was interesting following the Colorado river up through a canyon for 100 miles before hitting the interstate I-70 to New Castle. We went through Cisco, a ghost town that died with the steam train. 18-inch pizza at New Castle and bedding down with Mormons at Econolodge. Sunday was a driving day. We crossed the Rockies over independence Pass with ...

Our meander continued as we followed a series of scenic byways that took past several of Colorado's "fourteeners," the mountains that climb above 14,000-feet. Jack had prepared a travel binder filled with essential travel information: Best Campgrounds of Colorado, Scenic Byways (25!), Festivals and Special Events, and Wineries.

The most useful section was Scenic Byways and, as we have meandered around The Centennial State, we have ...

After an early breakfast we hit the road we had a long day ahead of us. We drove to Loveland Pass and the Continental Divide. The Loveland Pass is where the US Highway 6 crosses the Continental Divide between the Loveland Basin and the Arapahoe Basin. It is a long climb to the Pass but the scenery is fantastic with different scenery on both sides of the road. The temperature dropped about 20 degrees Fahrenheit from the time we left home until we got ...
