Historical Traveler Reviews of The Scotsman Hotel Edinburgh
Warm welcomes, soft beds and a state of the art pool

I could not fault the Scotsman Hotel if I tried. The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive, the room was glorious, the swimming pool has to be seen to be believed and the location is prefect. We had a wonderful time and are already planning our next visit.
Amazing stay

We stayed at the Scotsman in June and I have to say it is the most amazing hotel I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. Nothing has been overlooked in this hotel, the rooms are beautifully decorated with great views of the castle, the bed is just pure bliss and the privacy hatch for room service means that you don't even have to open the door!
I was fortunate enough to get a great offer from a late deal website, however even the full rate is worth every penny!
The best hotel on our trip!

My husband and I stayed here two nights on our recent honeymoon in Scotland, and we could not have been more delighted. The hotel itself is beautifully appointed, inside and out. Our room was spacious and elegant, with a wonderful view of Calton Hill -- and the bed was sheer heaven! I've never slept in a more comfortable one. There wasn't a single amenity lacking. When we mentioned we were on our honeymoon, the manager even sent up a free bottle of champagne. The staff were all extremely helpful, as well.
The hotel is in a very convenient location, just a block or two from the Royal Mile. We were in walking distance of almost everything we wanted to see in Edinburgh.
The food at the Brasserie inside was excellent; however the service was rather slow, as the restaurant appeared to be understaffed. And getting breakfast delivered to our room every morning was delightful. We felt so pampered!
Fantastic Service

Have just spent the most fantastic weekend in The Scotsman Hotel. 20 of us were lucky enough to celebrate my birthday at this hotel. The rooms were wonderful and very comfortable. The thing that made it so good was the level of service that we encountered from every member of the staff, nothing was too much trouble for them. If you get the chance the Penthouse Suite has fantastic views over the city of Edinburgh and is a great place to host a party. The food was excellent and the bar well stocked. Would deffinately return.
Not really up to scratch

I'm afraid to say this hotel is overpriced - expected more for my money and there are better, cheaper hotels nearby.
Thanks, it was...amazing

We are usually staying in Hotels in the 5 Star catecory when we are away for a short break. But it seams the Scotsman collected it's Stars straight from heaven and not through the tourist board. It was exactly the Break we needed, and not just what we expected. We stayed in a suite, Room 802. (There is some real "boys-toy" technology). The amazing view, plenty space to unwind and a welcoming easyness of the design, we just never left the room.Thank's to Christina and Scot, and to heaven that places like the scotsman exists. We will be back, hopefully sooner then laterP+K
Great Hotel

A hotel that cannot be faulted, from the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff - with an excellent Concierge, very comfortable rooms, and 2 superb restaurants. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be looked after in first class accomodation, in a first class city.
Disappointing

After expecting a 5 star deluxe hotel we were very disappointed can only describe the hotel room as very small shabby and looking a bit tired from the door handle falling off to a bad draught coming into the bathroom and a dead plant in the middle of the room how inviting to get a breath of fresh air spend your money at the Edingburgh Holyrood
Deserving of the Highest Rating

After a long drive north from Durham and York, and navigating Edinburgh streets in a rainy rush-hour, we checked into the outstanding, centrally-located Scotsman and into a five-star room overlooking the New Town and Calton Hill. The whole hotel experience was top-rate from the concierge service (wife's luggage was misplaced coming from US and they were very helpful in arranging for its being forwarded from Manchester to Edinburgh) to the breakfasts (mentioned in review above), the fully-equipped gym and the marble and wood bathroom. The staff was professional and courteous. When we return to Edinburgh we're staying here and nowhere else.
Perfect

myself and my girlfriend arrived in edinborough on a freezing spring night and were excited to check into our hotel, which turned out to be hellish. we were determined to find somewhere nice and had a walk around the city. this was the first place we saw; we walked into it's gorgeous lobby and got a fantastic deal on a deluxe room.
the hotel had a wealth of incredible features, making it well worthy of it's 5 star status, from the futuristic stainless steel pool to the delicious breakfast.
the room itself was brilliantly appointed, widescreen tv, dvd player, supremely comfortable bed, games table and music in the bathroom!
heading back to edinborough soon, hoping for another deal!
