Great First Visit to Kiawah Island!
We returned yesterday from a great trip to Kiawah Island, SC. I'm doing this all in one post as things are pretty busy right now and we have a Las Vegas trip coming up this Friday.
We arrived on Kiawah Island Thursday about 4 p.m. and checked in at the gorgeous Sanctuary. Wow -- what a beautiful resort! The rooms are some of the best we've seen …
Coastal golf, tennis, and relaxation
With only one day to spend in Kiawah, we had to do as much as possible!
After a nice breakfast together in one of the hotel's several dining rooms, Brendan began play at 9:00 am on the famous Ocean Course, leaving me more time to read my beloved (and missed!) New York Times over breakfast.

At the beginning of the red-blue state divide
... to the Battery area. So much renovation of amazing stately homes. Saw bumper sticker, Gut Fish, not Houses.
From Bay St. we could see Fort Sumter way in the distance. We passed on the shuttle boat to take us out there, but we visited the Museum. So much history.
Tomorrow we plan to make the 15 minute drive to Folly Beach, hoping to capture a Pat Conroy feeling.

Slow start into the New Year!

empty and our work is pretty much done! The only others people here they are the
other volunteers. Two couples, they man the boat launch and day use grounds.
Together we make an effort for dinner and a campfire once a week
where we relish the fact that we have this place pretty much to
ourselves for a couple of days.(Teena just tells me that one couple will be leaving this weekend, not happy manning the boat launch.)

Final Round
The lines are long heading to Kiawah this morning but we are looking forward to an exciting day!
Notes from today:
1. Followed Tiger's and Rory's group on front nine. Rory is in charge and it's his tournament to win or lose.
2. Sitting near 13th green, watching Tiger's group come in and watching live coverage at PGA.com on iPad at same time. Golf heaven!
