That phrase stuck with me the entire rest of the trip after Christian said it. Working is a way to pay the bills and enjoy life, not your entire being, your identity, your life. Although I'm pretty good about setting down the phone, I'm not always great at it.

I even have apps for currency conversion, for offline English-Italian translation, and for sending postcards to family using pictures I've taken in Italy. Amazing.
... I was so proud of myself for creating this beautiful, expandable folder with slots for each destination. I printed off train ticket confirmations and hotel addresses and contacts. And then I realized... I really don't need it. And it takes up a TON of space. Instead, I've made all of the documents available offline in Google Drive and I'll access them from my phone.
There are a few maps that we'll be using - I'll just pack those in my hiking bag ...
We've never taken such a complex trip but I think we have everything ready: luggage, tickets, just the right amount of planning, and of course flat Nicole and flat Ceanna.
The poor kitties know something is up but they will have wonderful company while we are away.
