Not fit for a king but good for backpackers and travellers on a tight budget!

Good budget hotel on the edge of the city. Walking distance to night bazar and city centre. Nice garden, pool and restaurant area. Budget rooms are painted like an old fashioned hospital in a weird green that hurts the eyes a bit. Try and get a room with a view over the city from the balcony. Food is good value and can't go wrong with the location for £8 a night. It might be called 'Royal' but I doubt any kings or queens have ever stayed here.

I was pleasantly surprised with the royal guest house. It is a nice place to stay, especially for backpackers! There is wifi in the entrance/food area and I used the laundry service which was quick and fairly priced (think it may be cheaper in town but I am lazy).

The rooms are basic but have everything you need and are spacious and clean. Very happy with my time spent here. Oh and it is in a good location too!

      Not the friendliest!

The rooms were OK but the staff were all a bit moody for my liking and quite frankly a bit ignorant - no one could be bothered.

There's a large dining area but it's not a place to meet people, it's all very separate, only advantage is a swimming pool but it's pretty dirty in the morning especially.

Pleasant staff, good area if you are looking for prostitutes and are too lazy to walk more than 100 yards, needs cleaning and de-infested. I got 20 bites in one night staying there. Has a pool but no loungers or space to lay and it is at the front on the driveway.

We were really impressed with how nice, clean and cosy this place was, especially considering the low price. Staff was very friendly and as well.

Its time to say goodbye to Pai and its lucky we booked our minibus tickets in advance! The bus station is really busy and all buses are sold out. We are ok, we have a ticket already and the owner of Pai Laguna hotel has driven us to town so we don't have to get a taxi. He eventually managed to get his knackered old 4x4 started, we sat in the car …

... to Tiger Kingdom to see the tigers. I really didn’t expect anything that fantastic but when we arrived I was amazed at how nice the park was. The tigers in the park had been hand reared, we paid to get ten minutes with four cubs (3/4 months old) we were all to scared to get in with the big guys, they were huge. The keeper took us in the cage and told us what to do and what not do, like do not touch its face or front paws and approach ...
