Autostadt Brieffach 1885 Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony, Germany, 38440, 5361-607000

Got in early and planned to stay the day before heading onwards to Berlin at night. From Amsterdam I took five trains to get to Wolfsburg...thankfully european trains are very efficient because all but one of the connections where less than ten minutes long. The one that was longer was just over four hours...my sleeping point for the night. Thankfully it wasn't raining...just a little windy as I camped out under the stars and the bright platform lights of the Venlo, Amsterdam train station. ...
Wolfsburg, Germany jay29 Friday morning and we need an earlier start we have a 9:20 booking for the Two Towers. We think the wicked wizard of the black tower has been at work on our heads or maybe it was last nights wine!
A very light breakfast and a refreshing stroll down the entrance road made of various surfaces from all over including a wooden block surface from Russia, I bet that was fun when wet.
A quick look round the Premium Clubhouse which housed the silver Bugatti, though it might just be chrome, ...
We checked into the Ritz Carlton and were shown to our room on the 4th floor with a balcony overlooking the Stadt Piazza.
Unfortunately the weather had taken a turn for the worse it was cool with sunny spells and the odd shower so sitting on the balcony needed warm clothing but kept the drinks cool.
After settling in we headed out to find our bearings.
What is AutoStadt?
Firstly it is built on the site of part of the old VW factory, originally for the purpose of giving a ...

... the Hauptbahnhof. We took the train to Wolfsburg to catch the ICE to Berlin. The trains can travel 125 mph on conventional tracks and 174 mph on high-speed tracks, it was like riding in an airplane it was so fast!! The ride to Berlin only took 1 hour! Then we had to find our Hostel which took a while since it was a 10 minute walk from the Ostbahnhof train station in Berlin.
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiepWe headed to the Hamburg Hauptbahnhof to get tickets back to Braunshweig. We stopped in Hannover for 1 hour and we quickly walked through some of the shopping section. We were tired when we finally arrived so we hung out in my room for a while just relaxing. We hung out with all of the URI students in Weststadt and it was a lot of fun.
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiep... be in such a huge crowd. It was going to take us forever to get back to Weststadt but Mason was a genius and suggested we go to the S-Bahn stop before the really crowded one to make sure we got a seat. I have never seen the S-bahn that crowded, even the Germans had to tell each other that there was no room for more people to come in. It felt so nice to sit down since everyone’s legs hurt from standing so long and after a long day of walking in Bremen and the 5 hr train ride.
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiep... costume stores in Germany since Halloween isn't really a big event here.
Wendy and I also explored for the Staples on the Ring but it was a disappointment, we were hoping it would look exactly like it does at home. Oh well.
When I got back I went to the Michaelishof area for Denise's handball game with Soth and Shawn. Denise is Soth's German International Partnering Projekt (IPP ...
... some fun. We wrote our names down on index cards and then we were put on random teams for 15 mintue games. All the players on each winning team got a shinny ribbon and whoever collected the most ribbons won a prize. We didn't realize that the tournament lasted from 8:30pm -6am!!! So we left around 11. It was a lot of fun, but some of the Germans were very intense and I had no idea what they were telling me to do sometimes!
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiepThursday morning a nice gentle start, breakfast then out into the park. The weather is still so so, a bit of a cool wind cloudy with sunny periods and the odd spot of rain.
We just timed it right to catch the Lamborghini lightshow. The car is on the wall behind bars and flips outside in smoke, light and accompanying sound track.
After that it was off to the museum the ZeitHaus.
Plenty of classic cars to see, unfortunately I seem to remember quite a ...
... task they offered. Ray was a bit apprehensive about this tradition as he remembered a certain 80's German music video that didn't have the most happy of endings. Throughout the day and evening there were many other wedding games. Nadja and Eike (both MDs) had to perform surgery on a couple of "build-a-bears" that had a broken heart. They played the newlywed game (and did really well). Ray's favorite was, perhaps not so much a driving simulator, as a ...
