After a long day of traveling, we arrived into LA and settled into the hotel. LA was colder than we are used to. John was loving the cooler weather, I could actually see my breath!!! We have a great room overlooking the marina. We may actually see the fireworks tonight. We have a late dinner booked at a great restaurant called Melisse. We want to …

We finally got him on his first ride after lunch - Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters where you rde around in a train shooting your astro blaster gun at the evil emperor Zurg and get points for every target you hit...Zach was hooked. At the end of the day we didnt need to ask Zach what his favourite ride was as we went on the Buzz lightyear one 5 times and every other ride we went on he was looking ...
... People may be thinking that this man got himself
into this situation and that feeding people without teaching them to

However in many ways you are all wrong. I am living proof of that. I
have been that down on their luck person before, my life has not always

... here are very friendly. Found steve no problems then transferred over to our rental at Alamo. Had a few issues with insurance and had heard the stories so we stuck to our guns and did what most people do and used AAA and MasterCard rental insurance cover rather than the $27 a day he wanted to charge. The full size car was $135 including taxes for the week, lest just hope we don't prang it. Was a little early for our apartment so we stopped off ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Ritz-Carlton Marina del Rey
I've just returned from 2 nights at the Ritz in Marina Del Rey. My husband was there for a business meeting. I should preface this by saying this is a nice hotel. The lobby is lovely as is the pool area and restaurant. Yet, for the money it's not as good as it should be.
We stayed at this property June 2004 and it is my new favorite US hotel. Everything was outstanding; and the club level upgrade is worth every penny. The club food presentations and conceirge staff are truly outstanding and you won't want to leave the property. It is on the harbor side of the marina and you can access the marina walkway and walk to the Cheesecake Factory and other restaurants. There is a lovely sand playground area for little kids and sailing lessons further up the marina. Only 10 mins from LAX- I go to LA several times a year and never knew about this hotel, I guess it is easy to overlook this 5 star hotel when Beverly Hill is about 10 miles away. Since Santa Monica is also only 10 minutes away too, it is really is well situated and a peaceful retreat. Only drawback I can see is it is not on the beach in a conventional sense, and there are no mega resort activities/spa. The pool and jacuzzi spa are accessible to guests 24/7 and both are terrific.
WE booked the mercedes deal with club level access. Upon checking in we were given the Keys to a brand new SL 500 Convertible. Wow was that nice. The concierge said mercedes replaces the car every so many miles so the guest have a new car to borrow. Everyone at this hotel smiles and is very attentive to service. I'm use to staying at 5 star hotels so this fits right in there with the rest of my top notch stays. Melanie in the club level was great. The 5 food presentations and complimentary drinks is worth the extra cash. The first room we had was very small. So we upgraded to a suite (room 1130) and it was gorgeous. It had 1 1/2 bath, hallway, huge bathroom, living room, Bedroom, and 2 balconies that overlooked the marina. Very beautiful. The suite was an extra 200 bucks a night but more than 3 times the size of a regular hotel room, and well worth the money. Per night ran about $680, which included the club level, oceanfront suite, Mercedes car rental, free valet parking, free gas fill up nightly, and unlimited miles. We had tons of fun. Email me if you have any more questions.
I am not one of those people who only write in for a bad review. That being said, I was disappointed at the level of service/value of the Ritz Carlton. The only reason I stayed there was because a friend's wedding was being held there and it was the most convenient option. For a luxury hotel that charges top dollar for its rooms, I expected the highest level of detail and service. Instead, I got missing towels, slow response to my call for them (Yes...I do need to take a shower and be at the wedding in an hour), and charge after charge for everything!!! I had stayed at the Best Western Peppertree Inn in Santa Barbara the night before for less than 1/2 the cost and received a bottle of good wine at check-in, free parking, an abundance of toiletries (are Q-tips too much to ask for?), free snacks (no honor bar), coffee and a coffee maker, and best of all....TOWELS! I would never stay at the Ritz again unless I am in an extremely pretentious mood. Good luck to the rest of the Mercedes Benz crowd.
After reading some of the reviews before I left for vacation, I almost changed my reservation! I was so glad I decided not to and stayed here!
Very comfortable and hospitable, but
Just returned from a 4 day, 3-night stay at this lovely hotel. The staff was prompt, courteous and helpful and the general appearance of the hotel was oppulent. However, I wished it would have had an in-room coffee maker with packets of regular and decaf to go with the morning papers they leave on your door each weekday morning. Also, I wish the shower had worked better and not have the tub fill with water while showering. Other than those minor details, it was a completely enjoyable stay. I am told it is going to get a complete redo in 2005.
Can't wait to return again. Thanks for the R&R and your gracious staff.
Not the usual Ritz
Just spent one night here and we were a little surprised at the condition of the rooms--clean but very worn looking, bedskirt had holes in it! Very nice view of marina. Service was quite pleasant. Parking is now about $50 a night!! Ridiculous.
Jerne restaurant was fine for breakfast and lunch, although the service was very slow. We paid about $215 without tax for the room but with the parking so expensive it wasn't a bargain at all.
My wife and I stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Marina Del Rey over July 4th Weekend of 2003. We were very unhappy with our room, as it reaked of cigarette smoke and had dust under the bed. We were also unhappy that we could not get a chair out by the pool, we had to sit on the wet soppy grass in the heat with a towel. I couldn't understand why they could not accomodate their guests, especially in the middle of the summer. We were also unhappy with the "menu" selections at Jerne and at the Wave. The service was adequate, but the food choices were uncomprehensible. The hotel needs updating and needs to live up to it's "Ritz" appeal. Overall, I would have stayed at Shutters in Santa Monica.
My wife and I spent 4 nights here in Sept. Unfortunately, it was during the poolside filming fo a Bernie Mac show episode. The pool and spa were closed completely during our stay.
We went there for two nights to celebrate our anniversary. It was a nice hotel, but maybe not 100% up to par with what I would expect from a Ritz-Carlton.Our bedskirt on the bed was stained. They charged a whopping $23 per night for parking.Use of the tennis court was $25 an hour.(As far as those fees go, I wish they had made it known on the website that those applied. $50 for two nights of parking was somewhat outrageous as was the charge for the tennis court. But, on the second day we used the court without paying and it wasn't a problem.) The rooms were pretty small. But, the bathroom was gorgeous, we had an amazing view of the marina and the food and beverage offerings in the club level were outstanding and worth the extra money. The service was very good and all in all we enjoyed the stay. The bed was very comfortable. All in all we had a very nice time and I would recommend the hotel.
