    ... word as boredom during the whole trip. Just the opposite in fact, the hardest part was deciding what option was the best most of the time.

    Huge thanks to all the friends I met with on the way, it really gave a special dimension to the trip seeing known faces in unknown places. And thanks for the hospitality too. Also for the comments and support through the blog, I've enjoyed them immensely.

    Christ this is starting to sound like a bafta-award winning speech, so ...

    ... different to Maduradam in the Netherlands and we found some tongue-in-cheek displays that children wouldn’t appreciate but adults would. The village had been decorated for Halloween and there were some rather large furry spiders draped over some of the buildings. To end our visit we watched a 10 minute 4D cartoon feature that was okay - what was more entertaining was a woman sitting near us who had no idea what 4D films featured and ...

    So the journey begins!

    ... Church. As we left this precinct we saw a sign pointing to the oldest surviving house in Plymouth, situated behind St Andrews Church so we went to have a look. The house, called Prysten House, was built in 1498 as a merchant’s house and now contains a restaurant called The Greedy Goose.

    Back at our hotel we checked in and are delighted to find that our room overlooks Sutton Quay an area with a marina, a number of restaurants and The Mayflower Steps.

    ... The Royal Albert Memorial Museum "Home to a million thoughts" was nice. The textured oils by Alan Cotton were beautiful.

    The FanZone had big screens for fans to watch the Rugby World Cup. Between games there was live music today. I caught the Live Jacks, a jive-jazzing group. Later the 20 piece Locked Horns played some show tunes. Their finale was "New York, New York". One woman commented that she had never seen anyone take a picture of the loo before. ...
