... National POW Museum was outstanding. I drove through the cemetery briefly before making my way south to Plains, Georgia and the Jimmy Carter NHS, less than a half-hour away, where I learned about the rural upbringing of the future President and his wife (including their influential school teacher who told her handful of students to do their best "in case you become President ...

Our first stop is Plains High School. There is a lot of space devoted to Miss Julia Coleman who taught both Jimmy and Rosalynn for several grades in this school that was 7-12 grades. There is a room set up as a classroom with small desks, medium desks, and large desks to accommodate children in various grades. Carter credits her with planting seeds for ...

... of pine needles below them all along the highway. The grass is a little greener.

We cross into Georgia and almost immediately there is a change. Some farm fields are a carpet of bright green (alfalfa or wheat???) Some fields have cattle and horses. One even had some donkeys. We got a good laugh when I call a miniature horse a "toy horse". Oh, well—whatever word works!

Trees are beginning to flower. Bright redbuds light ...
