... was hot and steamy so by the time we finished there it was about 5pm and we got a sim card for Wayne’s phone and then he had some dinner but I declined being a little sensitive in the bowel department today so gave food a miss. Heading back to the hotel we chilled again for the evening taking back some samosas for snacks which we bought from a street seller which were yummy.
Friday 2nd October. Finally getting our acts together and needing to check out at 12pm we ...
Mumbai (Bombay), Maharashtra, India kasnsqueakHello! Well we're here! and what an amazing few days it has been! We arrived really early on Tuesday morning, after an amazing flight- B.A have really stepped up their game, with great food, free bar and loads of things to keep us us entertained! and it was warm thought of this that got us through our first hellish 24 hours! We decided to spend the first night in an airport- ERROR! The ...
Mumbai, India jess_m... of safety briefings - screamed through by not one but four children, we finally taxied out onto the runway. As the wheels left the grounds, there was a communal gasp of horror (and from some of the children, glee), repeated with enthusiasm every time the plane turned, hit turbulence, and finally with special gusto when we landed. . Perhaps my favorite part of the experience was the full and delicious, if fairly unpleasantly fragrant ...
Mumbai (Bombay), Maharashtra, India hammitt... Gandi wrote to Hitler in 1938 at the Gandi museum. We also visited a huge outdoor dhobi where most of Mumbai's laundry gets washed by individual families that have space there. Even all the laundry from big hotels gets washed by hand here! It was really incredible. I wonder if the foreign businessmen know there shirts are being beaten on slabs of concrete and hung in the sun?

The next day we were walking along one of the main streets in Colaba, the tourist area ...
Mumbai (Bombay), Maharashtra, India patoysandrix... would kill me but I decided to take the hint anyway. Once we were allowed to leave we could not get back to our hostel because it was next to where the siege was taking place. We decided on going to Leopolds but ditched that plan at the last minute which was a lucky choice as that was the next place they hit. Martin our trusted friend packed us all into a cab and we headed for Anderi (a suburb of Mumbai) which is about the distance of ...
Mumbai, India max.rapley... one hour each way round trip to Elephanta Island. We also bought a guide book for 100R (he asked for 160R) in which the photos were barely readable. The 1 hour ferry trip to Elephanta was quite smooth and didn't feel at all queasy. LOTS of boats standing off Mumbai either waiting to load or unload. The sky was quite grey and the water ditto. It did indeed take an hour to get to Elephanta Island. It was named this by the Portuguese who found an ...
Mumbai (Bombay), India traveleasy... rough and we weren't feeling too good. We thought it was never going to end. Going to a fancy fish restaurant tonight and then back to Leopolds for a few drinks and to watch the football again. Getting the train to Udaipur tomorrow. Not really looking forward to the 18 hour train journey. We have really liked it here in Mumbai. We heard some bad things about how dirty and poor it is but we thought it was a really nice city with great sights and genuinely ...

Gnyaneshwar said that he would say so in a week and after a week he asked the son to stop eating. Upon asking, Gnyaneshwar said that he had practised for a whole week to not eat sweets and will not eat so for his whole life. Then Dinkar Uncle went to Chiragbhai's house (my cousin) where he talked about Kakaji's ...
Mumbai (Bombay), India viratpatel... he was going to the club for a massage session. It appeared to be his first one and he wanted to try it out. Rupamasi was not at all in favor of this undertaking. Á__ _ __ÁThe other day he bragged about his clothing, telling me about his Jeans shoes which cost him Rs 350 and his white shirt, which he had tailor made. Yet I've not yet seen him contribute a cent towards Shona's education or upbringing. Not a book, or a toy, or any sweets, or any ...
