We arose on Sunday slightly jaded and as agreed the previous night we made our way to the Four Seasons hotel for lunch with Jon and Adrian and some of their expat friends. The hotel has a buffet style lunch every Sunday and is very popular with the expats - for the equivalent on 10 pounds we were treated to free flowing champagne and a huge array of fine cuisine... D and R were in heaven ! The highlights of our meal consisted of (and in not particular order) sushi, sashimi, lobsters, chilli c...

Jakarta, Jakarta Raya, Indonesia muchroji... the Medan airport was probably the crappiest airport I've ever seen. Except for maybe the airport in Cebu City, Phillipines which was basically a wooden box - but that's a different story. <br><br>Then at the airport there was this huge group of English summer-camp people all wearing matching t-shirts that we managed to get ourselves stuck behind, so we had to wait an hour in line before checking in. The plane wasn't bad though, Air Asia is pretty ...

Marty has been catching up on all 7 travel network channels and the gazillion other networks that we don't normally see since we do not own a TV. I am painfully reminded why now because IT IS ALWAYS ON. However the best part of this studio is that we are steps away from our friends which makes everything very very convenient. AND the building also houses a spa and yoga studio on the ground floor owner by our friends family. I ...

Mark wanted to buy me a beer to show his gratitude and we ended up heading to Memories and he showed me where you can have access to free electricity and wi-fi Internet. We ordered a couple of Bintangs and started chatting about traveling and surfing. It turns out that Mark has taught surfing lessons in Hawaii, so I ...
Jakarta, Java, Indonesia aaronpolarbear... in-the-wall, we decided we had enough, so we took in the in the atmosphere and everything around us and went home exhausted. The following it must have been one of the hottest days of our trip so far. We walked around for 4 hours sightseeing and going in South-East Asia's biggest Mosque, before hopping on a bus to get on a plane and it really took a toll on us...especially Dom's foot. Once at the airport we wait forever and finally an hour ...
Jakarta, Indonesia mambo_italiano... do some research (in between checking Facebook and Shotsweb) we'd decided to head for the island of Batam first: it's only a 45-minute ferry ride from Singapore and one website described it as 'the new Bali' - beautiful beaches and a good nightlife and a good time to visit before it gets over-run with pastey Brits in football shirts getting drunk and singing Amarillo (and yes I know what you're thinking - just me doing that would be enough!). We arrived on the ...

People here are generally supposed to drive on the left-hand side of the road, but it appears that to most drivers the middle is just as good. Vehicles weave around each other at breakneck speed within mere inches of catastrophe. If a vehicle wants to pass, the driver honks the horn quickly a couple of times and guns it, often shooting between trucks on one side and people milling ...
