April 20th saw the gathering of 20,000 odd enthusiasts for the world's biggest Cannabis protest, 420 in Vancouver. Never ones to miss a party, Julz and I gathered with the masses in time for the biggest smokefest since Black Saturday. 4:20pm heralded the lighting of thousands of joints. Smoke billowed through the city as those avoiding second hand smoke got their SARs swag on. Great day.

We wound through the 'burbs, past the entrance to the Capillano Suspension Bridge (named for the gorge it spans over the Capillano River) and on to the base of Grouse Mountain.
The cloud line was about ten metres above our head, but we optimistically believed the forecast, so bought the tickets and climbed aboard the gondola to take us up another 800 metres or so to the chalet.
And we disappeared into cloud :-( ...
On our last day in the Vancouver area, we followed Tom and Maureen on a drive to the northwest corner of Vancouver and an area called Spanish Banks and then to the Van Dusen Botanical Gardens/Queen Elizabeth Park. The views of the water, flowers, and the city were fantastic!

That evening we treated ourselves to a meal in a restaurant linked to our hotel which was delicious and a welcome change from microwave jacket potatoes Paulie and I have become used to when staying in Motels!
