... told us how to get to a little island just down the road where we could eat, rest and hang out during the heat of the day. What a gift, as we never would have discovered it on our own. Anyway apparently while we were inside shopping several customers had come in the store concerned about the girl stretched out on the lawn. Some thought she might even be passed out! The manager told us, "Don't ...

We arrived in Kingston after traveling about 9 hours. It was a long day, but we still had time to enjoy the waterfront and walk around the town a bit. The stores closed at 5:30pm, but the restaurants (and ice cream parlors!) were open all evening. We ate at a nice little bistro that had an outside patio. (Of course, we soon learned ...
Another day out and this time to Kingston, which apparently used to be Canada's capital city until it lost its glory and was dropped (something like that). Kingston is a warm welcoming city full of bespoke shops of which I was not allowed to visit (oh with exception to a 'Grace Brothers' equivalent of a outdoor equipment store - absolutely full of equipment and clothes to sell, most of which were on sale ...
Kingston, Ontario, Canada prieststrip... that I did enjoy going into was a fantastic secondhand book shop absolutely full of books listed by authors. Books were basically half their retail price. I was amazed by the collection of Jeffrey Archer books available and a biography on The Princes (William and Harry) which was displayed as 'prized' book behind the till.
Delicious ice cream, stock up on the wine and then home.

... us to explore it all. There was a huge fireplace/oven, the size of some small rooms. It would throw off so much heat that chefs would die early deaths from heat exhaustion. The countess' room was above the oven, so she was always warm in her suite above - nice for her. There are beautiful lawns between the buildings where we had a picnic. Some people were taken prisoners (for religious reasons, but I can't remember exactly) and held in a vault of the castle. They ...
Stonehaven, United Kingdom jae... for dinner. Had a lively discussion with the Quebec girls about language and people being bilingual, or the lack of it in Canada. L and I went for a short walk down to the beach. It was windy so the waves were quite big and powerful. Into bed exhausted. Bruce, our driver/guide, found out that they are waiting for a part to fix the heating so it is really cold in here. There are 2 large propane heaters, but the bedroom is quite chilly.
isle of lewis and stornaway, United Kingdom jaeI was excited for another geocahing weekend in Kingston as it is a great place for some caches and has loads of new ones for me. I had contacted Kristi about surfing her couch and she said yes, so Lib, Kurt and I headed down on Friday night for a good weekend!! We grabbed two on the way down to Kingston.
Kingston, Ontario, Canada afmcdnl... the way.... Our tentative plan is to start from Mallorytown, and then head down towards Kingston, stopping at Grenadier Island, then heading down towrads the Admiralty islands, and then finally back to Kingston. I think it's going to be a truly beautiful trip. The only thing I really feel that we need to do is read up a bit on the wildlife that we might see, so we know what to look for ...
Kingston, Ontario, Canada jessica_cdn... retired and at 10:30am picked us up for a day of shopping and sight-seeing. I was able to go to my last Canadian Tire Store for the next eight months, a sad thought :-) and visited our last Canadian mall. They have a beautiful home beside the water and had we been going further east we would have been able to anchor out in front of their home as it overlooks one of the secondary passages of the St. Lawrence River. While Nancy prepared supper Mac drove us into Gananoque, which ...
