... guards look after 500 of the worst-of-the-worst criminals (child predators, serial killers, etc). A guard explained that if they were sent other institutions, they would be killed by other prisoners. So?? Anyways, this huge stone prison was built in 1835, is constantly undergoing renovations and is strictly off-limits.

· Fort Frontenac – Strategically located at the eastern end ...

Gananoque, Ontario, Canada navnav... told us how to get to a little island just down the road where we could eat, rest and hang out during the heat of the day. What a gift, as we never would have discovered it on our own. Anyway apparently while we were inside shopping several customers had come in the store concerned about the girl stretched out on the lawn. Some thought she might even be passed out! The manager told us, "Don't ...
Sackets Harbor, New York, United States bicycle_affair2... in the town. Oh! I can highly recommend the pizza and lite beer! I'm strictly Canadian for the next few days...and I actually had a Canadian lite beer. Speelman's. It was quite tasty!

I am going to try to add photos to this travel blog...but I forgot the cord to transfer photos to my computer! I'm now taking some photos with my phone and that seems to do the trick!
Kingston, Ontario, Canada laura3849Another day out and this time to Kingston, which apparently used to be Canada's capital city until it lost its glory and was dropped (something like that). Kingston is a warm welcoming city full of bespoke shops of which I was not allowed to visit (oh with exception to a 'Grace Brothers' equivalent of a outdoor equipment store - absolutely full of equipment and clothes to sell, most of which were on sale ...
Kingston, Ontario, Canada prieststrip... Honestly though, it looked the same as the houses in the blackhouse village. The driver dropped us at a path and we did a great walk. It was a bit up and down with some very technical spots. A bit of a challenge but not too difficult. Just after we got to the top of the first hill it started to rain - it wasn't a surprise because we could see the rain coming in across the water. It was a downpour. I had to hold my hood out to protect my face because if it hit my ...
Kingston, Ontario, Canada leroux... time I sat in the plane. It was pretty brutal. The flight was okay, but I was next to another child - at least it wasn't an *******. Then it was a bit of a mad dash through the terminal in Amsterdam to security check #5 at the gate, and onto the flight to Toronto. Of course, my baggage didn't make it - what else could I expect! It took me fifteen minutes to calm down when I got on the plane and to NOT freak out at the ...
Kingston, Ontario, Canada jessica_cdn... After the cruise we drove along the 1000 island parkway which followed the St Lawrence shore - a really scenic drive. What did surprise me was the number of raccoons that were dead at the side of the road.

Kingston on a Sunday night was very quiet and we struggled to find somewhere open for supper. It did feel like it was getting towards the end of the summer tourist season. The detour was certainly worth it to see the 1000 islands.
Kingston, Ontario, Canada harryandnorah... now it's making it hectic to get everything done. Again, what was I thinking - I'm the boss - why would I choose to schedule so much work for just before I leave? The boss can be a fool at times. So I'm off now to try to be sure I don't forget to do or pack something - just remembered that my feet will appreciate my flip flops in yucky hostel showers.
