one of our favorite places so far in the middle of nowhere and is so cilled out and relaxed, just what we needed after treking. Hired a couple of hogs (little mopeds) very fun way to travel and get to see the sights, visited a waterfall and some hot springs yesterday very relaxing. found somwhere that will show the f1 late ...
Pai, Thailand deardens2On my way back to Chiang Mai from Mae Hong Son I stopped off again in Pai to go white water rafting. I've never done it before, and admit to being a little bit scared of the water (I can swim but I'm not a strong swimmer). I had an absolutely excellent time - the company who run Thai Rafting are first rate with an impecable safety record (compared to some of the other local rafting companies). I met up with Eric again (he's wanted to raft here for ages) and so we were in a ...
Pai, Thailand vicb76... and hopefully I was blessed with some good karma.
Upon getting to the bus station (think dirt driveway) we got out and started looking for guesthouses. Along the way we saw our other friend who had just arrived and she joined us in the search for a place to stay. We ended up at Mr. Jans, off a little side street. It is very basic, two double beds and hot shower. After we were all settled in we took ...
... The town is a little more developed than I expected, but we are staying outside of town just a bit, so it's lovely and peaceful. Pip taught us how to ride a motorbike, and we've been taking the most incredibly scenic drives. We stop and visit friends of hers, sip coffee, wander around, try new northern foods, etc. The town's motto is "do nothing" and we are happy to comply. Although, we have been doing yoga ...
Pai, Thailand linzstoker... climbing steadily out of the town. I think if at this point someone had told up what was coming we would have all given up. At every corner, we expected the road to level out, but each time we went round, it only got steeper! It was absolutely knackering. Even the parts we thought when we were going up were flat we discovered on the freewheel back down were not at all. It took us two exhausting and very sweaty hours to reach the falls by which time ...
Pai, Thailand pennyimo... happy with. I asked when we could start and Poh said come back in an hour. The first 3 hour session was actually surprisingly bearable, it hurt, obviously, but I seem to have developed a greater threshold for pain somehow, must be all the trekking or something. I was looking forward to it being finished though. I came back the next evening as it was simply too hot during the day and he had no air conditioning so we finished our cookery course in the daytime, which was ...
Pai, Thailand garyjampot... the pitched already sweating and were made to run around for a good hour, slipping and sliding on the muddy excuse for a pitch. It was great fun, and I'm sure the local lads enjoyed running rings around most of us weary travellers. The post-match shower had never felt so good in all my life!
Dinner was a welcome surprise, both tasty and plentiful, and all my previous fears of starvation, milling around in my head that morning, were soon forgotten. Food was ...
... were, smiling in the dark beside Baan Phasa. Considering James didn’t recognize it even after he’d seen it and I couldn’t even remember when it was taken we started thralling through our memories wondering when I could have taken a photo with Rachel’s camera in the dark which James didn’t remember. It was harder than we thought so we ordered breakfast and mulled it over till another idea sprang ...
Pai, Thailand wmorganAfter working for three weeks...I needed a break! :P
Peter is in Thailand, so he came to visit me in Chiang Mai :) I thought I take a few days off to travel northern Thailand with him, once again, on a back of a motorbike! :D
Fun-Fun-Fun!

... and I think under normal circumstances is pretty mellow... but not for these 2 days. On my walk into town, I did stumble across a Songkhran parade though, which is the only thing I saw that had much ceremony to the event. It was small, but lots of interesting costumes (that's probably not the right word) and music! The next morning, I got up with the goals of 1) finding the amazing Pinapple Cinnamon pancakes that had been recommended by a friend, and 2) renting ...
