Kelowna Airport is a one hour flight from Calgary and the city lies on the banks of the Okanagan River. It is an idyllic holiday town with lakes, vineyards and small beaches. Many people have holiday homes here and it is an affluent city.
During our visit we stayed downtown and visited many wineries on both banks of the valley:
On our way to Peachland and stopped in to a few wineries. We took a tour at Mission Hill, (bought the wine). Had lunch at Quail's Gate, (bought the wine). And stopped into Volcanic Hills winery to buy some red wine because we've been buying white till then. ...
... very knowledgeable. We tried some more dessert wines and another couple of whites, and ended up buying one of each of their dessert wines, including one called an icewine. This is made from grapes that are left on the vines until winter and having spent at least three days at -8C, are then made into a deliciously sweet syrupy wine that goes amazingly well with chocolate (or can also just be quaffed on its own!!)
We bade farewell to Quails ...
... fed 3° water! It was nice to be able to fully submerge our bodies. We played some frisbee while Ceri and Megan hired jetskis. Poor Ceri lost his gopro after a big stack. Expensive activity for him in the end.
We had another group bbq dinner at the hostel and spent the rest of the evening drinking and enjoying out last night together.

Earning money for work! It's busy on the hill so it's not a bad thing to miss out on snowboarding all day. The Australian New Years Eve I felt a but homesick because I wanted to be with my family and friends down the river! I no what such a good time it is.
