    I love coming to this country. It is vast. It is raw. It is unpredictable. It is unnerving. It is also one of the warmest places one can visit.

    ... forget or have no luck finding one of several electric passenger golf carts to take you there.

    The tide was out when I arrived, so a steep climb down barnacled stone steps took me along the shoreline of fishing boats where people live, fish and trade from their vessels. It is very much a marine atmosphere here that takes you back to a slow and different time.

    ... Geng. Geng was born here but made his fortune in rubber in Singapore. At the time, he felt the people of this area needed a central education facility.

    I will only be here this one night before a bit of travel tomorrow to live in the round houses of the Hakka ethnic minority. The round houses, as you will see, were mistaken by the USA, back in the Cold War days, as missile silos!

    ... least bit bothered! The highlights of our flight to Xiamen - Mrs Bryce hoarded a dozen bananas and a Chinese man photobombed Kyle's selfie. As ever, we recieved a very warm welcome from our Xiamen hosts, and after feeding us we were taken on a shopping trip where our pupils got a chance to meet some of their Chinese counterparts.
