Recently booked stay at hotel thru Hotels.com. This Radisson was not what booking agent or web site info indicated. Hotel is currently under renovation, so rooms are partially finished and not as glamorous as advertised. Furniture and bed comfort were nice. Staff was adequate. Room air conditioning did not operate properly, even after maintenance "stopped in" to repair. Pool area was small. Water quality left something to be desired, as clearity was absent due to debris suspended in water. Room carpeting was dirty and musty smelling. Kids had to wash their feet before climbing into bed. Since hotel reservation was made thru a booking agent, could not be offered any rebate from Radisson's 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. Had problems with Hotels customer assistance in correcting reservation problems.
Gives the Radisson Brand a Bad Name! Very poor!
I booked this hotel through priceline(the 2nd time I've used priceline in a month- bad both times) and thought I could trust the "3 star hotel rating" when I booked it. Upon arriving just outside the hotel, I could tell that I was in for a disappointment. While the renovated lobby area and brand new Houlihan's Restaurant were very nice, the hallways and rooms were awful; filthy carpeting with cigarette burns, peeling wallpaper and an air conditioning system that seemed to pump out musty, luke-warm air.
I had a non-smoking room with 2 double beds and when I got into the room, it smelled like a room that had been a smoking room for 30 years that just recently was converted to a non-smoking room. I went to use the bathroom and found two of the three bath towels frayed and ripped and the shower curtain with mildew on it. The beds felt like they were 30 years old as I slept poorly both nights I was there.
I called down to the front desk and asked to be moved to a room that was cleaner and less smoky in smell and was told that "unfortunately, when you book through priceline, you get what we have available"- she was rude and very unaccommodating. In the morning, I contacted priceline who contacted the hotel and they offered to move me at that point. The new room was slightly cleaner but nothing special.
The pool and fitness areas were also a disappointment and dirty. I jumped in the pool and found bits of food floating in the water. I got out immediately and showered. We did enjoy eating at the on-site restaurant (Houlihan's) for dinner and breakfast and the staff there was wonderful. Overall though, this hotel experience almost ruined our weekend. If the Milwaukee area hadn't been booked up (we checked!), I would have gone to a new hotel in a heartbeat and forfeited our pre-paid room at the Radisson!
Hotwire placed me in this hotel....supposedly a 3 star establishment....wrong!!! Except for the refurbished lobby and restaurant, the place is miserable. I stayed here 20 years ago when it was a Holiday Inn....and little has been done to refurbish or clean since!!! Filthy carpeting, an antiquated air conditioning system....and just generally dirty areas all around. I agree with the writer of a previous review.....take away 2 of the 3 stars and possibly the rating would be accurate. Never again!!!
A long line for terrible food & service
We stayed at this hotel for Easter week-end..I live in Green-Bay work related,,but my mother lives there in Milwaukee..
I suggested she make reservations some place nice for Easter Brunch..
I learned while there that the hotel had a Easter Brunch so we made reservations for 11am..I am very confused on how the line was at least a 30 minute wait with reservations..There wasn't 50 people in the place..
It took 55 minutes to be seated,,the set-up was sloppy,,food was cold..Our waiter smelled of booze,,at least I think he was a waiter..
Never again..I travel to Milwaukee at least once a month,,and I will never stay at the Raddison again..Besides the bad service and bad food,,the room smelt and consent noise in the hallway,,ice machine,,soda machine,,terrible..
Find someplace else to stay in Milwaukee
Well it seemed a good idea at the time...my wife and I, a weekend in Milwaukee on family business and a location easy to find for everyone...and three stars. Well take away two. A balcony room with the balcony door screwed shut (for our safety!), and a slider dirtier than a window on an Amtrak inter-city. The bathroom was small, to be kind, with the door opening a piece of paper's breadth from the toilet. The bottom sheet was too small for the mattress resulting in constant contact with all of those tags that must not be removed on pain of death, and the desk chair was so wacked out we used it to scare one another. And then there was the pealing wall paper around the elevators and the premanent stretch limo with the giant rent me sign on it, positioned centrally between the two no parking signs at the entrance. Ok, so the lobby was bright and open, the restaurant had great oatmeal and Jesse behind the desk was very nice. Yet one of her fellow workers, when asked about finding some great "brats" for dinner (we are in Milwaukee after all) had to ask her co-worker. When she, who was on the phone having a tift with her boyfriend, took a moment to suggested a downtown German restaurant, I was told that she didn't know that "brats" were a German fish! How far have we fallen?
Bad, bad, very bad...
I flew to Milwaukee on business, and reserved this hotel since it is near the airport. When I arrived, I got a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach, as I could tell from the exterior that it is a former Holiday Inn, and a former anything is not normally good. When I checked in, I requested a room on the outside, since the ones on the inside looked at an indoor atrium with a run down swimming pool. I went to preview the room, and found that the "non-smoking" room had a musty old odor, that was from years of being a smoking room that had been redesignated non-smoking. The door was a sliding glass door that looked out onto the parking lot, which allowed in too much sunlight, thus heating up the room. Luckily, I was there before cancellation time, and I politely told them "no thanks." I drove across the street to the newer, nicer Hampton Inn, and wrote off staying at a Radisson ever again.
Far below Radisson's usual standards
This place was basically a one-star hotel, sorry to say. The hotel was probably a Days Inn or something else in the past. They've added a few cosmetic changes like a big chandelier in the lobby and putting out fancy shampoo bottles, but they've done little to upgrade the rooms per se. Our mattresses were flea-infested. I spent all night tossing and turning trying to shoo away the little buggers. The sheets didn't fit properly.
The dining room was an old conference room. The host (who also doubled as the waiter and perhaps the cook) had to run all through the hotel to the kitchen every time we needed something (like more coffee or our food). Apparently the kitchen is nowhere near the "restaurant".
For the money we paid, we could have stayed twice as long across the street at the Red Roof, which I've also stayed at and it's reliably clean and comfortable.
My Family and I stayed on a Thursday night for a Cubs game with the Brewers. Fortunately the game was a better experience than our hotel stay. We reserved these rooms several months in advance and requested non-smoking rooms. When we arrived we were told that our request was honored. When we got to our room the sign at the door did not have the non-smoking designation like all the other non-smoking rooms. As soon as we walked in the door we were blown back by the reek of cigarette smoke. We immediately called the front desk and told them there must have been a mix up and they insisted that we were given a non-smoking room and we would not be re-assigned a room. We asked if it was possible if housekeeping could come in and spray a deodorizer and we were told that was not possible. Later that evening we brought our kids to the pool and discovered that there were no towels. We went to the front desk and asked if they could bring some more towels which they said they would. 20 minutes later after no towels arrived we asked again and were told that the hotel no longer had fresh pool towels. We asked if we could possibly have a couple of room towels and were told that they were out of those also. A Radisson without any towels. Wow. Both of the girls working the front desk seemed more intent on talking with each other and assorted friends on the phone rather than helping any of the hotel guests. It is my hope that this was a case of poor employee work ethic and not indicative of a systemic problem. Needless to say we will use another hotel next time we come to see the Cubs play.
Great accomodations and excellent hotel for family events. The November 26th front desk crew managed the check-in of our large party very well.
However, many members of the staff (restaurant and banquet services) lack basic customer service skills and problem resolution training.
Example: breakfast is scheduled to end at 10:00. At 9:30 on November 27th and 28th, several members of my party (20 rooms/3 nights) were told that there would be no more food restocked on the buffet. Ask for a room facing the outside
Clean and spacious rooms. The hotel was obviously something else in the past....like a Holiday Inn Holidome. They took the inner courtyard and made it into a reception hall. So now the windows of the interior rooms look into this reception area. I was there on a Saturday night and there was a big party going on until midnight....of course with an inside room I heard it all! Plus...if you want to go to the pool or workout room you have to walk through this reception hall. Very bizarre for the swimmer and very weird for the person who rented the hall....they get strangers walking through their reception. On Sunday morning I had to walk past tables of people eating brunch in my wet swimsuit. If you stay here make sure and ask for a room that faces to the outside.
