We left Walsenberg, an old coal town now with only every third building occupied, to head across a long waterless section to LA Junta. We expected hot and boring. Though hot we got attractive and our best wildlife siteing day. Cara Cara, a road runner, barn owl, antelope , coyote, deer, rabbits and then past a rancher with a lot of exotic (if not wild) African critters. In La Junta we rested and ate. ...
