"It never rains in Corfu"

So apparently it never rains in Corfu...but we were apart of a massive downpour that left the whole village without power all day. But that's what makes this trip so amazing! So we arrived in Corfu, one of the greek islands, 6 days ago to stay at the world famous Pink Palace. The Pink Palace is like a little world inside a big globe. We started off on an 8 hour overnight bus ride followed by a ferry ride with a group of wild and crazy Australian and Canadian boys. This made for quite the inte...

Sleepless in Corfu

After over 26 hours of travelling with about two hours of interrupted sleep on the concrete floor of an overnight ferry, we arrived in Corfu, Greece. We are staying at the infamous Pink Palace which seems like more of a hotel than a hostel. We are looking forward to a few days of rest and relaxation on the beaches of Greece without having to hop from place to place. We are looking in to maybe visiting more islands, but don't know if we are willing to make more 14 hour trips which will add tim...

Fleeing Corfu in a Flash

Well, after all of the trouble getting to Greece, we only enjoyed one full day on the beach. We caught a nasty stomach virus that was going around the good old Pink Palace and everyone there was sick. Literally every person. After being completely bedridden for an entire 24 hours, we decided to get on the 24-hr. ferry to Venice to escape the wretched place. How is that for some stories, Anthony? :) We are still feeling naseous today and have eaten a total of about 10 crackers each over the la...

GREECE (we finally made it)

After an 8 hour ferry we made it to greece and it was pouring rain. This island is very green and has tons of limestone cliffs on the beach. The place we are staying at it like a mix between springbreak mexico and a summer camp, but its really cheap and they feed us breakfast and dinner so we can deal with it. We got here on our 5 year anniversery and we have just layed out on the beach for 4 days and now we are officailly CRAZY tan (sorry barb). We are off to santorini next 9 hour bus to Ath...

The Pink Palace

Well its been a while since my last entry, and not much has happened. After 20 hours of ferries, and 48 hours of transit, we finally arrived in Corfu, Greece (its a little island at the top). A little bit of eavesdropping on the ferry ensured us that it really was the only way to get between Croatia and Greece, as travel through albania is virtually impossible, and highly unrecommended. But for the first time ever, a little bit of luxury when we arrived; a coach waiting to take us to our host...

We're still seeing pink

For once i feel overwhelmed at the thought of writing beacause there are so many little stories to tell. The pink palace has just been the most awesome experience ever. We have made great friends with all the staff- especially the bar staff at happy hour who became like family to us- and it is really sad to leave. It was like a holiday from our holiday, so its kind of good to get back to things in the real world. The toga party on saturday was really fun and i should have the photos on in a c...

Yiieeeaaahhhh! In Greece!! Yiieeaaah!!

Yiieeeaaahhh!!! The Ushiro and Matteo adventure has taken off!!! So far so good!! It all began on the day I left florence on May 31st. I felt a little melancholic(homesick) as I left florence, but everything wasn't the same as everyone started to leave so I decided it was time for me to leave as well. Seeing our year pass buy right before my eyes was quite a shocker, but I knew it would be because it was the best year of my life. As each person who was close to me left, I felt a piece of me l...

The Pink Palace

What more can you say about the island of Corfu then the Pink Palace. We arrived at like 8 am after a long overnight ferry. We of course rode it style once again as we slept on the deck of the ferry like common bums. It is a nice way to travel and I am glad we got some sleep before the long day to come. Our arrival at the Pink Palace ment of course a shot of Ouzo. This is the Greek's idea of a good joke I think. It tasted more like cough syrup then anything else and at 8 am it was not a welco...

PINK PALACE!!!!!!

WELL! first things first. The bus ride! we had to walk to the other hostel in Athens that is connected with the one we are staying in, as that is where the bus runs fromto go tot he Pink Palace. So we trekked up the streets until we found it, and ended up sitting in the internet room there until the bus came at 9ish. (about a two hour wait). And while in there, we met Laura from Vancouver, who was also going to the Pink Palace, and two other guys from Texas, Randy and Kevin, and the two guys ...

Pink Palace vortex

from A TripAdvisor Member
Once I got over the cheesiness of the palace (i had been warned) I had fun here but had major issues with certain things, namely some of the staff members, the prices, the watered-down alcohol, the steps, the whole feeling that you were in a time warp and that you couldnt turn sideways without having to hand over cash, oh and the fact that they actually walk into your room if you sleep beyond 9am (even though i had paid for another night) without knocking!!! we stayed in some apartments just down the hill after we ran out (or were run out) of the palace. Overall for any independent travellers dont go there, apartments are cheaper and nicer and you can do your own thing. But if you want everything to be done for you and get drunk everynight on ouzo then the palace is your place!!

It's a pink prison paradise

from A TripAdvisor Member
After being on the road in Europe for almost a month and seeing many churches, and other cultural/historical sights and traveling 2nd class on hot crowded trains the Pink Palace was a great break from it all. A place to just relax for a few days and have everything I need with in walking distance. People who complain about it probably don't know how to just let go and make the best out of a situation. The place is full of young people from all over the world--the best people I met in Europe was at the Pink Palace--who all just wanted to have a good time.

They have optional activities during the day (some are not free) But the dinners/breakfasts are included and unless you need to have a meal the way you want it when you want it, the meals were pretty good and filling. The nights are full of dancing, drinking, partying, (and anything else you want to do), and the days are consists of lounging in the sun and swimming in the water or going on some of the activities they offer. It was a great experience. And I recommend it for atleast a few days....But a lot of people end up longer then they want to because of the late nights and early checkout times....If your not out of your room by a certain time you have to pay for another day hence the name "The Pink Prison Paradise" So go and enjoy but don't forget there is a whole world outside of the pink palace.

A total ripoff scam for innocent travelers

from eric182
this place is simply designed to separate young travelers from their money. the staff lies about accomodations, and since the location is very far from any other part of the island, once you are there, you are stuck. they encourage you to stay longer and spend more of your money by waking you up in the middle of the night, and the accomodations were scary and dirty! there is very little to do during the day, and their only nightclub is not even very much fun. take my advice and avoid this place like the plague!

Party!

from A TripAdvisor Member
I went to the Pink Palace when I was in the military in 1995 and had the time of my life! This place has all the bare essentials you need to do some serious partying. Me and some of My buddies got a room right on the beach that we shaired. The water was so clear with a salt content that felt like saline. You could open your eyes and see very claer. I think I spent $50.00 to stay their for three days. This is not including the food that I ate out in the small town that was just a short walk down the beach. My "beverages" were purchased at the palace.

The clubs are at the palace are a blast. I would recomend you come with friends.

Pink Palace is a unique Hotel.Corfu Paradise.

The best place me and my husband have ever stayed in Europe. It is just too good of a place to be true. This hotel is just unique. The view from Our room was fantastic. The sunsets breathtaking. We met tons of travellers from all over the world and we did just about every activity they offer.Corfu Island it self is worth seeing too. We rented a car only for 30 Euros a day and saw most of the Island. We got lost a few times but that was the most fun of it. We ended up in old villages, with narrow roads, saw people riding donkeys and had wine with the locals.Definetely visit Corfu and the Pink Palace. It is worhwhile.

Best hostel in Europe

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Palace was the best hostel I stayed at while in Europe. The pink togas, the beach, and all the extras the hotel has to offer are just a few of the reasons I am planning on going back.

Poor Palace

from A TripAdvisor Member
I just feel that if Pink Palace plans on staying open year round then they need to act like it. All I heard were complaints from staff members about how bored they were and that it's so much more fun during the summer. As a customer this was very disappointing because I have no choice but to come at this time of season because of my travels being a student. So as for some advice to future travelers, please research Corfu before you weed your way into a tourist trap. As for the staff that are still left, please act like you have a job and you actually want to be there. Clean up the place and make people want to come back.

Get into the spirit...

We, my 16 year old daughter and I, also had negative initial experiences of Pink Palace in Corfu however we decided to relax and enjoy ourselves and even though in the first 3 hours I would happily have left, we ended up having the time of our lifes. We will never forget the experience and recommend it to all our friends. Go with the right attitude and you will have great memories forever.

Pink Nightmare

from A TripAdvisor Member
We arrived at the port early in the morning and encountered a man with a pink bus that said he would give me and my friends a good deal. We were a little hesitant, but the guy said that is we did not like it he would give us a ride back to the port to find something else. After a half-an-hour bus ride, we were taken into a lobby and given a shot of ouzo at 7am. After seeing the room we decided that we did not want to stay and the guy that promised us a ride back said he would bring us back to the port within the next hour. After waiting there for three hours we got a little angy and spoke with the owner. She talked us into staying one night and offered us a rate. The room she gave us had a broken fan, a broken bed (I put my backpack down and the thing collasped) with a rat hole in the matress, and a drunk neighbor that kept using our shower. I guess the area we stayed in was called the tree trunk area... do not let them put you there! After all of that, we figured we would go to town and see what Corfu has to offer, but the city bus only leaves every three hours and the Pink Palace charges two euros for a 75 cent bus ride. We ended up not going to town and sitting on the beach next to the Pink Palace which if surrounded by cigarette buds. The so called vegetarian breakfast was stale bread and half a can of fruit coctail. They do not have juice so you have to buy it at the little store near the breakfast area. The three course dinner was a joke. Part of it was supposed to be soup, but it was just broath. I asked for a glass of water, which is totally drinkable (I should know, I studied in Greece for the year) and he told me it was not and wanted to sell me a two euro can of soda. I feel that my stay at the Pink Place was a waste of time and money. I recommend that you stay at Hotel Europa near the port. It is close to the bus staion so you can actually see things, the staff does not try as hard, and best of all you will not be trapped in the pink bubble from h---!
