... driving over the Golden Gate Bridge where the GPS recalculated and told us it was 2 hours arrival time to get back to where we were going. This caused a great deal of stress, fortunately Ashley's GPS told him a different way, we followed him and got back only about 10 minutes late although the missed turn cost us $14:00 in tolls! What we worked out was our GPS which is the one we bought secondhand had been set for ...

This is one of the best driving roads we have ever seen - sheer drops and twisting bends on the cliff ...

... Gate Bridge but that day Karl the Fog (it was never made clear who named him) had descended and was gently hugging the bridge, destroying the photo opportunities of so many. But we went to an Italian bakery for coffee and biscotti so the tour was a success anyway. The tour ended a short walk from Fisherman's Wharf so I wandered over there to experience my very first clam chowder. In a sourdough bread bowl. Rather nice it was too, especially as I ate it ...

... that's all over the next few days. Places are preparing for Independence Day celebrations and Lyal is gearing up for a great birthday celebration too. We had lunch at Mel's Drive In, which is set up like Al's Diner in Happy Days. Very well done and US flags and bunting covered the ceiling and walls too, especially for the celebrations tomorrow. Since this is a test, I'd be grateful to receive some comments, so as I know people are receiving ...
