Kuwait - Safe to visit!

Despite the turbulence of its recent history, Kuwait today is once again beginning to reflect its status as an oil-rich nation. In 1990 Iraq claimed Kuwait as its 19th province, but the Iraqis were expelled by a United States led alliance in a short war in 1991, and now the country is separated from its threatening neighbor by a wall along its border. The ruined capital, Kuwait City, has risen from the ashes of war to become a buzzing metropolis with gleaming high rises ...

More benefits of the Hilton

Well, there are more benefits of the Hilton. First, there are women in bikinis who are not related to the people at work. I didn't go to the Ramadan tent for dinner, but you could eat out on the beach. Now it is time to go home.

Hard Rock Cafe

And with the Hilton being closer to the city, it is a quick trip to eat at restaurants up there as well. Back to the Hard Rock - a great deal - all food is 50% off during Ramadan. At least one good thing during Ramadan. Met up with my old technical manager from my chemical plant days. Wasn't expecting to run into him over here.

We saw the sun setting into the Gulf before heading out for a meal at a local Kuwaiti restaurant. Decked out in traditional decor we dined on Fattoush and pickles and I opted for a local dish of Moutabath (sp?), which was a stewed dish of lamb and bread (like dumplings), which was absolutely ...

There wasn't really much more to tell you about from patrol 2. The occasional bit of gunfire, not directed at us (we think), some interaction with a few Iranians from time to time. Just the usual. The Desert Duck's arrival twice a week is still the most anticipated event. Despite an initial slow start, my mail has caught up and I ...

But against the backdrop of experience it's funny. Reading this, I guess it's one of things that only a soldier gets, but it's been one of my main sources of enjoyment. I already have 1 request for sand, anyone else that wants it, let me know and I'll get that sent out as soon as possible, (much to the discomfort of the US dept. of agriculture).
