... isn't the clear waters of the more southern beaches but it did its job, cooled us off and got us ready for an exploratory wander!

Way down deep in the middle of Negombo... All I can say is well done Zoe. We arrived in Sri Lanka in the middle of the day and, following the advice in the guidebook, we took some directions to the bus stand for Negombo (which just makes me think Um Bongo). The first guy said it was about three hundred metres, then the next guy said just up the road a bit more, this continued until we had completed about 3km in 30° heat, carrying >27kg each. The first thing to do today has been to find somewhere to stay for tonight and the next week. I have decided to base myself here in Negombo and not to travel too much but give my body a chance to recuperate. Therefore I am staying in a beachside hotel with a pool and will chill here for a while. I move back again tomorrow ...

... seems our accommodation is up in the hills overlooking Kandy, and our tuk tuk controller, no doubt viewing our luggage and waistlines decides we need a newer machine to cope with the extra torque.
